Chapter 697 Help Her Raise Someone
When Donovan returned, Chloe told him about Jane introducing a job to Jeffery. Chloe said she felt too lowly and feared that if she introduced the job to Jeffery, he would throw a tantrum and refuse to go. After all, ever since Jeffery left Pearl Peak University, he had harbored resentment towards Chloe. Being young, he had a bad temper.
"Alright," Donovan said, and then he called Jeffery.
Donovan insisted that Jeffery must attend the interview at this company, as a favor to him. Additionally, Donovan asked Jeffery, "Are you still hanging out with Barbara?"
"No," Jeffery answered seriously.
"What exactly happened last night? Did you sleep with her?" Donovan also disliked Barbara.
After a long silence, Jeffery finally replied, "No. I did it for Jane to see."
"Good. Don't hang out with Barbara now or in the future. Besides you, she's also involved with a wealthy man. Don't fall for Barbara's tricks and end up regretting it," Donovan said. In fact, he understood very well that Jeffery did it not only for Jane to see but probably for Chloe as well.
With that, Donovan hung up the phone.
The next day, Jeffery went to the company called "Wind Investment Company" for an interview. The interviewer was Sean, a rich second-generation and the founder of the company.
Jeffery had finally pulled himself out of his slump. He wore a clean white shirt and a fitting suit. He was handsome, well-built, with broad shoulders, and looked even better when dressed up. He had studied finance, which matched the job.
Sean sat in the chair opposite Jeffery, scrutinizing him closely. Jeffery was so handsome that Sean was truly impressed, understanding what it meant to be naturally gifted.
"Did Jane tell you what position you're interviewing for?" Sean asked Jeffery.
Jeffery was surprised and frowned slightly, "Jane?"
"What? She didn't tell you?" Sean held a pen, tapping it on the table, staring intently at Jeffery. "Jane and I were high school classmates. I pursued Jane, so she asked me to give you a chance. Jane knew I would definitely give her this chance, so I naturally did. Your interview today is just a formality. Jane knows I will definitely give you this position. It's just like supporting someone for her. I can afford this little bit of money."
With that, Sean let out a deep, cold laugh.
Jeffery pressed his lips tightly together, saying nothing. How could he not hear the humiliation in those words? He just stood up and said, "Thank you," then left.
He was so angry that his temples throbbed, and his teeth chattered.
Last time, Maya had been hospitalized at Jane's hospital, so Jeffery knew which hospital Jane worked at.
He took a cab there, clenching his fists tightly and gritting his teeth the whole way.
After finding out Jane's department, he pushed the door open and went in.
Jane was just finishing up with a female patient. Seeing Jeffery's hostile demeanor, and since her consultation was over, the patient quickly slipped out. As she left, she muttered, "Must be crazy."
Jane looked at Jeffery, "Aren't you supposed to be..."
"Supposed to be at the interview, right?" Jeffery stared at Jane intensely. "Your suitor gave me a well-paying job out of charity. Are you satisfied? What exactly do you want?"
Jane frowned tightly. Sean had promised her not to tell Jeffery the truth. How could he break his word?
"I'll call him!" Jane said, pulling out her phone to make a call.
