Chapter 458 Taking a Chance
When they arrived at Amelia's grave, Jacob, as usual, stood nearby smoking.
He had just talked about Janet. And the more he talked, the angrier he got.
He took out his phone and sent Janet a WhatsApp message: [You shameless bitch!]
Still not satisfied, he sent another message to Donovan: [You jerk! Rejecting someone as amazing as Chloe to chase after some lowlifes, getting Janet pregnant in the process. No wonder Chloe doesn't want anything to do with you! Just go away!]
Jacob's thoughts changed frequently, possibly related to his mood at any given moment, or maybe he felt that Donovan was someone he couldn't benefit from, so he just cursed him. After all, cursing cost nothing, and he could say whatever he wanted.
Chloe didn't expect to see a bouquet of flowers in front of Amelia's grave. They were a bit dried out, but it was clear they had only been there for a few days.
"Do you know who left this bouquet of flowers here?" Chloe asked.
"Who knows? Probably some of Mom's old friends," Jacob replied, uninterested.
Chloe thought, 'Amelia had been bedridden for six years, many old neighbors had moved away, and even those who had a relationship with her had lost contact. It couldn't possibly be Barbara and her daughter; they are filming in Pearl Peak City. Could it be Daniel? Daniel is now in Maple Valley.'
It was also unlikely to be Donovan, who was in Pearl Peak City.
Chloe had many things she wanted to say to Amelia, but she kept them in her heart because she was afraid Jacob might overhear. She didn't want to share stories of her hardships with Amelia. She just wanted Amelia to know that she was doing well.
Seeing Amelia's grave, Chloe recalled the past—Amelia's smile, the times when Amelia cooked for Chloe, and many other things. Chloe couldn't help but get teary-eyed.
After all, Amelia was Chloe's closest relative.
Thinking about how Gordon had killed Amelia and Donovan's slanderous words about Amelia at the police station, Chloe showed a contemptuous smile.
With that, Chloe went straight back to Pearl Peak City because during the holiday, she still had to visit the Stellar Corp for an inspection. Then, she took a car back to Pearl Peak City.
When Donovan received Jacob's WhatsApp message, he was a bit puzzled.
He replied: [Whose child?]
Jacob: [Stop pretending! Janet's child.]
Donovan's frown deepened. Maya had mentioned this once, but he thought she was just talking nonsense.
Over the years, Janet occasionally visited Donovan.
When she came, she didn't say much, always finding some random excuse to stand there. Donovan found her annoying and thought she was imitating Chloe. At that time, he really hated Chloe.
Of course, he still hated her now.
But how in the world could he have allowed Janet to have his child?
And where was this child now?
Or was it possible that the child was merely a ploy to provoke Chloe?
Donovan paced around the room and sent another message to Jacob: [Did you see Chloe?]
Jacob: [Of course. We went to see my mom.]
Jacob must have mentioned this to Chloe today, so...

He paced around the room and then sent Paisley a WhatsApp message: [Can you deliver something to Janet for me? I'm in Pearl Peak City and can't leave. I'll have my assistant send it to you.]
Paisley was furious when she received the WhatsApp message!
In the three years Chloe had been gone, all of Maple Valley had been gossiping about Donovan and Janet. It seemed she hadn't beaten Janet hard enough last time.
Janet really deserved to die!

She wanted to see what exactly Donovan was sending to Janet.
