Chapter 289 The Child is Mine

Donovan looked at Melissa, who stood in the middle of the hall like a vulnerable prey; her eyes and brows showed a mix of emotions, making her look pitiful in that moment.

"Matthew, don't you dare accuse me falsely. You are never home and always with different women every day. Why can you do it, but I can't? Sooner or later, I'll kill you!" Melissa's eyes gleamed with the fierce determination of someone who had nothing to lose as she stared at Matthew.

Originally, the wealthy couple each played their own games, tacitly understanding each other.

Why, in the Parker family, was it permissible for men to play around, but women would be nailed to the pillar of shame for doing the same?

Matthew found Melissa's question utterly laughable.

" It's simple. I earn the money. If you had money, you could do it too," Matthew said, gesturing with his hand for "money." "You need to talk about this! Today, I've already revealed your shamelessness to everyone. Going forward, try seducing someone else and see if you can get a penny from me. Reconciliation? You're not deserving of it! And don't even consider using the child to extort money from me.”

Melissa had an affair with another man and became pregnant. She tried to reconcile with Matthew and lied to him, saying the child was his in hopes of benefiting from his wealth. When Matthew found out, he exposed her actions and damaged her reputation in Maple Valley.

Matthew had money, but he wasn't a fool.

Donovan glanced at Dylan.

Dylan also sneaked a look at Donovan.

After Melissa was unable to lift her head, everyone left, leaving only Donovan.

"How did I do?"

"Not sure if it was good or bad," Donovan said cryptically.

"I don't understand," Matthew said. "But, Mr. Blake, I have to remind you of something. I recently heard that while Mrs. Blake was in Verdania, you stayed in the country and didn't go to Verdania. Is there something wrong with the child in Mrs. Blake's belly? She cheated on you, and you're still supporting her? I think you should use my method to make her unable to stay in Maple Valley. I was friendly to her before, all because of you. I didn't expect Chloe to have more stories than this woman in my hands. Women are like clothes; the more you change, the newer they are.”

"The child is mine," Donovan said with a confident smile.

"If you know it, I won't say more. But if she doesn't behave, leave her to me," Matthew said, "I'll make her wish she were dead!"

Donovan's lips moved slightly, "She is mine, after all. How to deal with her is up to me."

Matthew's face displayed a hint of embarrassment. "Okay, I get it. I'll treat Mr. Blake to a meal some other time.”

"Fine. But it's best at noon."

"I know you have to accompany Chloe in the evening, so noon it is," Matthew said.

"I have to go," Donovan said, preparing to leave.

"Hold on a second. You usually don't socialize in the evening, but you came out with me last time. Why are you out tonight if you don't usually socialize?" Matthew grabbed Donovan's sleeve.

Donovan just smiled, said nothing, and hurriedly walked out of the private room.

Matthew pondered for a moment, 'Last time at The Azure Plate, it was because Chloe went out to eat with friends.'

'This time, he went out to socialize but rushed back so quickly; he's probably worried about Chloe.'

Matthew felt slightly disapproving, thinking, 'What's the worth of women? Give them respect, and they don't appreciate it!'
