Chapter 424 Talented Young Man

Their eyes met, and Chloe scrutinized Donovan. Their last encounter at Kenneth's house had been too brief for her to really take in his appearance and demeanor. Now, he still looked handsome and serious. She wondered if there was a beast behind that facade.

Today, he looked as dashing and impeccably dressed as ever. He wore a finely crafted T-shirt paired with matching dress pants, exuding an air of authority that was both sophisticated and unpretentious. There was a scholarly restraint to his presence, making his demeanor unique in the business world.

Yet, there was also an undercurrent of palpable desire about him, an undeniably magnetic allure.

Donovan didn't expect to see Chloe there. "Mr. Blake, you probably don't know her yet. This is our independent director, Ms. Baker," Timothy introduced.

Donovan smiled slightly. "I don't know her."

He then turned to Charles. "Why didn't you tell me when you got back?"

Charles thought, 'How is this my problem? If you want drama, leave me out of it.'

"Ms. Baker just graduated with a Ph.D. from Unity College and hasn't been with us long. She was a top student and has a lot of experience in project evaluations," Timothy continued.

Chloe couldn't help but think, 'To Donovan, this probably sounds a bit ironic.

'It is no surprise he said he doesn't know me—after all, today they are on opposite sides of the table.'

She kept a pleasant smile plastered on her face.

"Is that so?" Donovan said indifferently. Timothy had already given up the head seat at the conference table to him. Donovan and Chloe sat next to each other.

Donovan asked, "How old are you, Ms. Baker?"

"Twenty-eight," Chloe replied.

"Really? You look like a college student," Donovan said with a slight smile.

Chloe couldn't tell if he meant she looked young or didn't care about Francis.

"Ms. Baker may be young, but she's very experienced. Don't underestimate her," Timothy said, worried Donovan wouldn't take Chloe seriously.

"Mr. Blake, you're also very young," Chloe responded.

"Am I?" Donovan smiled and looked at Charles for his opinion.

"Yes, you are indeed young and talented!" Charles praised.

"Well, Mr. Blake, since we're here to finalize the agreement today, I'd like to raise a few personal points," Chloe began, flipping through the contract. "The contract is in the format provided by New East Group, but I'd like to request a few changes. For instance, in Article 4, Section 5, I propose we amend it to…"

"I agree," Donovan said, looking at the contract and then at Chloe.

Encouraged, Chloe smiled. "For the eighth clause of the seventh section, we want to amend the breach of contract liability to..."

"I agree."

Chloe mentioned several points, and Donovan kept agreeing. His readiness made Chloe uneasy. She thought, 'Does Donovan have some scheme?'

"Mr. Blake, you don't have to..." Chloe started.

"Don't have to what?" Donovan looked up, his eyes meeting hers, reflecting a vague, inscrutable image of herself.

Chloe glanced down, her earlier confidence now tinged with regret. She had intended to suggest that he shouldn't just agree blindly because it was her asking. At the very least, he should consider the details of each clause carefully.

"You see," Donovan continued with a wry smile, addressing Timothy, "your employee is negotiating these contract details on your behalf, and I've agreed. Now she's telling me not to rush."

"But you still agreed," Timothy said, thinking Donovan agreed quickly because Chloe was young and beautiful, and her conditions weren't a big deal for New East Group.

He thought, 'Indeed, work requires a male-female combination.'
