Chapter 663 Injustice
Jane could even hook up with Jeffery, so messing with his badge was no biggie.
She messed with Jeffery's badge just 'cause she didn't want him to leave.
Sure, tampering with the badge seemed minor, but it was Jeffery's pride and joy, and Jane treated it like a joke.
How could Jeffery put up with that?
No matter how chill he usually was, this was too much.
"Where's my badge?" Jeffery turned to Jane, his eyes blazing with anger.
"What badge?" Jane was confused and a bit scared by Jeffery's sudden rage.
"The badge on my hat! Why are you acting all innocent?" Jeffery knew it wasn't cool to lose his temper at the Donovan's place, but his anger towards Jane had been simmering ever since she tricked him into sleeping with her.
Jane grabbed his hat and saw the broken thread where the badge used to be. "I don't know, maybe it fell off?"
"Fell off? When I put my hat on the couch, the badge was still there. How come it's missing now? If you don't want me to leave, just say so!" Jeffery was getting even more pissed.
Did Jeffery not get what Jane was up to?
Without the badge, he couldn't get back into the military camp.
"Jeffery, don't flatter yourself!" Jane snapped back.
Jeffery usually kept his cool, but not when it came to Jane.
Charles and Charlotte watched from the sidelines, thinking the two were about to throw down.
Seeing Jeffery lose it, Charlotte got pretty scared. Even though Orion was in the military too, he'd always been a chill guy. Seeing Jeffery this mad freaked her out a bit.
She clung to Charles's arm.
"Don't blame Dr. Allen. How could Dr. Allen do such a thing?" Maya tried to calm her son down.
"She can do anything!" Jeffery shot back.
Maya didn't get why Jeffery had such a beef with Jane, a beef that seemed impossible to squash.
Jane was fuming too, glaring at Jeffery.
The two looked like they were about to explode, the tension so thick it felt like the room was on fire, making everyone uneasy.
Chloe suddenly remembered something and went upstairs to find Jake.
"Jake, did you take the badge from Jeffery's hat?" Chloe asked.
Jake denied it at first, but eventually, he nodded.
Chloe was not happy with Jake.
"How could you do that? That badge means everything to Jeffery. Without it, he can't go back. Do you get that? You can't just think about your own fun anymore, got it?" Chloe said.
Jake nodded.
Even though Chloe didn't seem like the best mom, her tone was different from Cynthia's coldness, and Jake could deal with it.
"Where's the badge?" Chloe asked.
Jake slowly pulled out the badge, looking down.
"Don't do this again." Chloe patted Jake's head.
Even though she didn't really like Jake, as a mom, her attitude towards a kid who called her "mom" was on point.
Chloe quickly took the badge downstairs.
"Here's your badge. Looks like the kids accidentally took it upstairs." Chloe handed the badge to Maya, who quickly found a needle and thread to sew the badge back onto Jeffery's hat.
Jane's name was cleared.
