Chapter 699 He Doesn't Like You
After entering the room, Ann turned on the office light. The office was neither too big nor too small, equipped with almost all the necessary office supplies.
"Since it's through Chloe's connection, there's no need for an interview. I trust you, don't let me down. Add my contact info, and I'll send you the detailed job description," Ann said, showing her social media account.
Jeffery sat in the office chair, reviewing the job details, while Chloe and Ann stood chatting happily, mentioning names like "James" and "Angela."
Then Chloe turned to Jeffery and asked, "Have you finished looking? If so, let's go. You can start work tomorrow, no problem, right? I'll figure out how to tell Maya; she has to know sooner or later."
Chloe, like a caring elder, spoke to Jeffery, who nodded in agreement.
"Alright, you two go ahead. I need to send a few emails that I've been putting off for a while," Ann said.
"Okay, you get busy then," Chloe replied, and she and Jeffery left.
In the hallway, Chloe, still like an elder, explained the main business of Ann's company to Jeffery and advised him to work hard and gain experience in the financial sector. Jeffery nodded in agreement.
When they reached downstairs, Barbara and Matthew's car had just arrived.
Since Chloe's car was parked in the lot across the street, they needed to cross the road.
Barbara, sitting in Matthew's car, saw Jeffery crossing the street and immediately beamed with joy.
Ever since she stayed at Jeffery's house the night before last, Betty had made it clear to Jeffery that he couldn't provide her with financial support. After being pressured by Betty yesterday, she and Matthew stayed home all day, and today Matthew took her out.
Barbara disliked Matthew for being older and divorced, and his attitude towards his first wife scared her. He had been with many women in between, unlike the simple and hormonally charged Jeffery, so Barbara didn't like him. But to appease Betty, she still went out with him.
"Stop the car, stop the car!" Barbara said urgently.
Matthew didn't know Jeffery, but hearing Barbara's urgent tone, he started to pull over.
Barbara immediately got out of the car and, as Jeffery was about to cross, she ran over and hugged him!
Jeffery was stunned, Chloe was stunned, and Matthew, sitting in the car, was even more stunned and furious.
"I missed you so much, Jeffery," Barbara said affectionately, clinging to Jeffery's neck. She was doing it to show Matthew: I already have someone, don't get any ideas.
After a moment of shock, Chloe quickly realized that Barbara was using Jeffery to get rid of Matthew. But did she know what kind of trouble this could bring to Jeffery, given Matthew's ruthlessness?
Thinking of this, Chloe rushed forward and pushed Barbara away. "What are you doing?"
"Have you fallen for Jeffery, too? Why didn't you say so earlier?" Barbara retorted sarcastically, having long disliked Chloe.
"Let go of Jeffery. He doesn't like you. You'd better get a clue and stop clinging to him," Chloe said, pulling Jeffery's hand and quickly walking towards the parking lot.
Matthew, sitting in the car, saw and heard everything that had just happened.
