Chapter 600 The First "I'm Sorry" in My Life

Jeffery had just opened the package when his comrades started teasing him, "How thoughtful! Did your girlfriend send this? She must have been heartbroken when she heard you broke your arm."

At the mention of "girlfriend," the first person that came to Jeffery's mind was Chloe, but he wasn't sure.

When his comrade told him someone was looking for him outside, Jeffery was slightly taken aback and felt a bit of anticipation, wondering: Who could it be? The person who sent him these things?

He went out and saw Barbara standing there, feeling quite disappointed.

"Barbara," Jeffery called out.

Barbara saw Jeffery's arm in a sling and hurriedly asked, "What happened?"

"I got injured during training. Barbara, did you send the supplements?" Jeffery asked.

Barbara thought: She had just found out about Jeffery's injury, so how could she have sent these things? Besides, it wouldn't be good to falsely claim credit for this; eventually, the truth would come out, and Jeffery's impression of her would worsen.

"No," Barbara said. "Where was it sent from?"

"Maple Valley."

"Maple Valley? Then it must be Chloe. I can't think of anyone else," Barbara knew her purpose this time was to get closer to Chloe, so she naturally needed an excuse to talk to her.

"I haven't asked yet," Jeffery said.

Since joining the military, Jeffery had rarely sent WhatsApp messages to Chloe. After all, his decision to enlist was somewhat related to Chloe. However, if it was Chloe who sent the package, he would be quite flattered.

Barbara was just there to check on Jeffery, knowing he was in training and probably didn't have time for a girlfriend, which put her mind at ease.

Then, she flew back to Maple Valley.

"Barbara likes Jeffery, you know? I'm afraid Jeffery might be led astray by her," Chloe said. "Barbara probably doesn't know she has such a formidable rival in you. And Barbara is quite devious; she better not tell Jeffery that she sent the package, or else you'll be helping her win Jeffery's favor."

"No worries, I already told Jeffery that I sent it. To ease his mind, I even bought him some bone healing supplements. Even if Barbara claims she sent it, she'll end up embarrassed."

Chloe smiled.

After they finished tidying up, Jane's expression changed, and she called Donovan in.

Chloe remained lying on the bed.

"Mr. Blake, go talk to Chloe. I just finished treating her, so take it easy," Jane said, glaring at Donovan with a look that conveyed unspoken anger.

"Alright," Donovan said as he went in.

Chloe was lying on the bed.

As soon as Donovan entered, he held her hand. "Are you okay?"

Chloe ignored him, turned her head to the side, and started crying, "The baby was yours. I had a miscarriage because you told me you were marrying Cynthia. I thought there was no point in keeping the baby, so I had an abortion. Cynthia even came to ask me who the father was, and I didn't dare tell her the truth. I could only be vague. But then you told me your marriage was fake. Why do you keep deceiving me over and over?"

With that, Chloe's tears fell, and she pitifully said, "If you're getting married, then get married. If not, then don't. But you keep being ambiguous with Cynthia and close with me, putting me in the position of the other woman."

Donovan tightly held Chloe's hand. "It's my fault."

This was probably the first time Donovan had ever said "I'm sorry."
