Chapter 666 It Won't Hurt Anymore
Last night, Ralph was playing in the living room when he overheard his parents talking. They mentioned that Donovan's Rebecca Residential Community was selling out fast, and it looked like they would fall far behind Donovan again this year. Vance was very angry. Although he showed respect to Donovan in person, his words behind Donovan's back were filled with hatred.
"I heard that Rebecca Residential Community was named after Donovan's daughter. He had twins back then, but the daughter didn't make it. I guess he did it to please his wife," Vance's wife said to him.
"Why do you always care about things you shouldn't?" Vance snapped at his wife, "I'm talking about money now, and you keep bringing up that stuff. Every man has some gossip."
"That's true. I heard Donovan has adopted a child, and people say it's his illegitimate son!" Ralph's mother added.
"Can't you focus on something serious?" Vance got even angrier at his wife's words. He stood up and walked away.
Anyway, the topic of Donovan always made Vance and his wife unhappy.
So today, Ralph decided to make Francis unhappy!
"My dad is the smartest in the world, and your dad doesn't know how to use words!" Francis scoffed at the words Vance used.
"Nonsense, my dad is the smartest in the world!" Ralph retorted, getting a bit anxious. "And Jake must be your dad's illegitimate son. Otherwise, how could he be in the same kindergarten as you?"
"Don't talk nonsense! Your dad is the one with an illegitimate child. My dad loves my mom very much; it's impossible," Francis fumed. "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll beat you up!"
Just then, Jake came over to find Francis and called out, "Francis."
"Yeah."
Ralph picked up a stone to "teach" Francis a lesson. He threw it hard, and the stone flew towards Francis.
Jake stood in front of Francis. Seeing the stone flying towards them, he instinctively shielded Francis. The stone grazed Jake's eye.
Instantly, his eye swelled up, turning blue and purple.
Jake started crying immediately. After all, he was just a child, and the stinging pain made him cry.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you so silly? Why did you block the stone for me? I could have dodged it myself," Francis asked nervously, rubbing Jake's head.
Ralph got scared; after all, they were just kids.
The teacher was alarmed and quickly sent Jake to the nurse's office, then called Donovan and Chloe.
Chloe was teaching a class when she got the call. She hurriedly drove to the school's nurse's office.
Now that she had her driver's license, Donovan had bought her a red BMW.
When she entered the nurse's office, Donovan had just arrived, too. However, Donovan didn't seem as anxious as Chloe.
The doctor had already treated and bandaged Jake.
Chloe held Jake's head in her hands, "Does it hurt? I'll make that kid apologize to us!"
Seeing Chloe so worried, and thinking about Cynthia's devilish attitude, Jake felt even more grateful for Chloe. This injury was much lighter compared to the physical and psychological harm he had suffered before.
Chloe's concern made Jake's pain disappear immediately.
