Chapter 694 Last Night
Time rewound to last night.
After Donovan and the others left, Jeffery sat on the couch for a while longer. He leaned back, took out a cigarette, and sat there for a long time, never having felt so despondent.
It was an hour later when he finally went back to his room.
Seeing Barbara lying on his bed, he was momentarily stunned before he remembered that he had let her in.
Barbara was still wearing just a camisole, revealing half of her shoulder and a bit of her chest. Her lips were red, her teeth white, exuding a lazy, seductive charm that most men would find irresistible.
But Jeffery was not most men. Seeing Barbara asleep, he closed the door for her and went to sleep in the living room. Sleeping didn't matter much to him; whether he slept or not felt the same.
He made do on the couch outside for the night.
Barbara hadn't slept since she entered Jeffery's room.
She was waiting for the moment Jeffery would come in. This moment of allure was something she had deliberately created. She wanted Jeffery to see her and lose control. As long as they had a physical relationship, Jeffery, being a very traditional and responsible person, wouldn't ignore her. But to her surprise, he left!
Jeffery left!
Barbara was so angry that her chest heaved, and she didn't sleep a wink all night.
The next morning, she took off her shorts, leaving only her underwear, and went to the living room. She saw Jeffery lying on the couch without even a blanket. Barbara went back to the room, grabbed a blanket, and covered Jeffery with it.
Jeffery was a light sleeper and woke up as soon as the blanket touched him.
Seeing Jeffery awake, Barbara ran back to the room in small, hurried steps like a wounded little rabbit, leaving Jeffery with a view of her curvaceous back, clad only in a camisole and underwear.
Jeffery continued to lean on the couch, thinking about what Chloe would look like if she undressed.
As soon as this thought crossed his mind, he cursed himself for being so wicked and having such a lewd thought.
He quickly closed his eyes to rest.
Barbara got dressed and went downstairs to buy breakfast for Jeffery.
When she returned, Jeffery had just woken up. She simply put down the food and said, "Take your time eating, I'm leaving now."
Then she left, giving Jeffery only a view of her back.
Barbara thought she had played a good game of "hard to get," but to Jeffery, who had no feelings for her, her tactics were completely ineffective. The person in Jeffery's heart was always Chloe.
Barbara took a cab home.
Betty had just gotten up. She came out of Barbara's room, saw that Barbara hadn't been home all night, and was furious. She called Barbara while cursing, "Shameless! Liking someone so much that you throw yourself at them? Have you no self-respect? Rich men pursue her, and she doesn't care, but she throws herself at that guy who got kicked out of the military and has nothing."
Barbara often stayed out all night when she was filming, and Betty never worried this much. But this time, knowing Barbara had gone to see Jeffery and still hadn't come back, Betty was very angry.
Daniel heard Betty nagging, turned over, and covered his ears with the blanket.
Barbara was disappointing, and Daniel was useless, making Betty even more anxious. She kicked Daniel hard, and he rolled onto the floor.
Barbara didn't answer the phone.
