Chapter 601: Grandma
"After being discharged, I'll explain everything to Cynthia," Donovan said.
Chloe nodded.
"Also, after you're discharged, should we move to Hillside Villa?" Donovan asked Chloe.
"Yes, but Zoey has to come along. Maya can't take care of my mom alone."
"You go talk to her."
"Okay," Chloe replied.
Donovan didn't mention getting back together because he knew that even if he brought it up now, Chloe might not agree.
The next day, Chloe was discharged. After Donovan took her home, he went back to Hillside Villa because Chloe needed to discuss things with Zoey. Donovan said that if Zoey agreed, he would send a driver to pick them up at noon.
Zoey had stayed over the night before and got up early to make breakfast for Paula. After they finished eating, Zoey cleaned the house while Paula watched TV.
Chloe mentioned the idea of moving to Hillside Villa and asked for Zoey's opinion.
Since Hillside Villa was spacious, Zoey wouldn't have to go home every day. Chloe asked if she was willing to go. Zoey, being retired and having nothing to do at home, agreed.
Chloe didn't have many belongings in Maple Valley, so the driver came with a business car and loaded everything up.
Chloe and Zoey chatted in the car.
Paula stared blankly out the window, tracing her hand on the glass. Suddenly, she said, "Fred."
Chloe was stunned and asked Paula what she remembered, but Paula fell silent again and said nothing.
Donovan arranged for Paula to stay in the room that Amelia used to live in. Zoey's room was next to Maya's.
Francis called Paula "Grandma."
With more people in the house, it suddenly became lively.
This was the first time Francis called her "Grandma." Francis stared blankly at Paula and then said, "Grandma, you're really beautiful!"
Paula just nodded gracefully. In the first half of her life, many people had told her she was beautiful. She had heard it countless times.
Francis also called Zoey "Nana," and Zoey was moved to tears.
Zoey's reaction was much more enthusiastic than Paula's.
Zoey knelt and held Francis's arms.
She even wanted to take money out of her pocket, but Chloe stopped her.
Zoey had only one son, Andrew, and she thought she would never have the chance to be a "Nana" in her lifetime. Seeing Francis so cute and sincere, Zoey felt a mix of emotions.
Because of Francis's one word, "Nana," Zoey felt an even greater sense of responsibility. She silently vowed to take good care of Chloe's mom and do her part well.
At lunch, the cook made many dishes and even prepared a fried egg for each person, served in small bowls.
Chloe ate the egg white and left the yolk in the bowl.
Without saying a word, Donovan took the yolk and ate it.
The interaction was so subtle that even Francis didn't notice what they were doing.
Donovan also called the cook over and told her not to give Chloe egg yolks in the future because Chloe was allergic to them.
The cook didn't know about Chloe's dietary habits because Chloe had gone abroad before the cook started working there.
Zoey saw this and thought, "Mr. Blake is good to Chloe. Andrew would be at peace knowing this."
Now, Zoey and Chloe were staying together in Chloe's home in a different way.
Zoey felt content.
After moving to Hillside Villa, Zoey missed Andrew even more, but thinking of Andrew brought a mix of emotions.
