Chapter 210 Sarah
During breakfast the next morning, Donovan did something out of character by serving some food to Clara.
Despite his tough demeanor, he did it for Chloe to see. Clara was pleased and intentionally made eye contact with Chloe. Chloe was thrilled.
On their way to work, Chloe, trying to stifle a smile, remarked to Donovan, "You did a good job.”
"Just saving your face!" retorted Donovan.
Chloe didn't say anything, but she was very happy inside. After all, Donovan listened to her.
Upon arriving at the office, Chloe received a WhatsApp message from Amelia.
Amelia: [Chloe, has Jacob contacted you in the past few days?]
Chloe: [No, he rarely contacts me.]
Amelia: [I've been feeling anxious these days, like something is about to happen.]
Upon hearing this from Amelia, Chloe also felt a sense of unease, but she reassured herself that things were improving and there was no need to be concerned.
Chloe: [Don't worry, Mom, there's nothing bad happening]
Amelia: [I'm pleased that you and Donovan are getting along. Regarding Jacob and Karen, that's beyond my control. By the way, when do you think would be a good time for me to visit Mr. and Mrs. Blake? They've arrived, and I haven't had the chance to meet them yet.]
Chloe thought for a moment.
Chloe: [I'll ask Donovan.]
She messaged Donovan on WhatsApp.
Chloe: [Donovan, my mom would like to visit Mr. and Mrs. Blake at their home. Could you schedule a time for her?]
Donovan: [Anytime.]
Chloe informed Amelia: [Mom, Donovan is flexible with his schedule, so it's your call to choose a time. .]
Amelia: [How about this Saturday at noon?]
Chloe: [That works.]
The days went by without much excitement, with only the occasional movement from Gordon in his sleep. Saturday came around swiftly.
That day, Amelia paid a visit. Gordon and Clara held this relative in high regard, especially since they were very fond of Chloe.
Up until Amelia's arrival, Gordon kept asking Clara if the suit he was wearing was appropriate.
"It's fine, looks good," Clara said.
She felt that Donovan's attitude towards them had been changing, and life seemed to be getting better and better. She was comforted by this.
Furthermore, Kenneth had described Amelia as a compassionate woman. When Amelia entered the room, Clara emerged first.
Donovan and Kenneth were seated on the sofa, while Chloe and Maya were busy arranging fruits. Gordon then appeared and found Amelia conversing with Clara on the sofa.
All of a sudden, Gordon's lips quivered, and he appeared dazed, as if under the influence of a drug.
"Sarah, Sarah!" Suddenly, he seemed unwell, running around the room, muttering incoherently, "Sarah is here! She is here!"
Amelia felt uneasy; it was her arrival that triggered Gordon's reaction.
Chloe had informed her that Gordon had a severe mental illness and was receiving treatment in Dreamonia.
Away from his previous surroundings, he was improving and leading a regular life, teaching at the university.
Chloe felt uneasy and instinctively took Donovan's hand. Donovan approached Gordon, his brow deeply furrowed.
"Sarah is long gone. It's not her."
"It's her, it's her! She destroyed me, dragged me from heaven to hell. It's all her fault!" He curled up in a corner, trembling.
Clara gently touched Amelia's hand and whispered, "I'm sorry, Amelia. He experienced a traumatic event in the past. Usually, he's a good person.”
Clara stood up and approached Gordon.
"She's not Sarah. Donovan said Sarah is dead." Clara knelt gently in front of Gordon, speaking softly to him.
Donovan scorned Gordon's current condition, a reminder of why he had fled abroad years ago.
"Isn't she? Isn't she?" Gordon asked Clara.
"She isn't. She's Chloe's mother, our relative."
Gordon's emotions had just started to calm down when there was a frantic knocking on the door from outside.
"Mr. Blake, open the door, open the door!" A woman's voice urgently called from outside.
