Chapter 376 She Was Really Beautiful
Suddenly, Chloe felt a gentle nudge on her shoulder. With red, swollen eyes, she looked up.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Cynthia handed her a tissue.
Chloe grabbed her phone. "It's nothing. Just homesick."
She didn't want to show her feelings for Donovan in front of one of his admirers.
Most people would ask about home, but Cynthia didn't. She just lowered her head and said, "Let me take you home."
"Okay." Chloe put her phone in her bag, and they headed home.
Once home, Chloe felt unwell and lay down. Cynthia touched her forehead. "You have a fever. I'll make you some medicine."
Cynthia went to the kitchen. When she returned, Chloe was asleep, still crying. Cynthia covered her with a blanket and tidied her sweaty, tear-streaked hair.
Cynthia observed Chloe: She was beautiful, with flawless skin, fine facial hair, almost invisible pores, a clean complexion, and clear eyes. Her personality was gentle but principled and persistent.
Cynthia had seen Chloe in the library, muttering to herself when she didn't understand something, marking it down, and researching it. She was genuinely there to study, unlike those just seeking a degree.
'Donovan must see something special in her,' Cynthia thought.
Chloe's phone rang several times. Cynthia saw a WhatsApp message from Ann: [Donovan is nothing! Chloe, don't mind him. You'll be better than him in the future!]
Cynthia figured Ann was talking about Donovan's recent news, which she thought was why Chloe was crying.
Cynthia sat by Chloe's bed for a while. When Wade came back, she left.
Chloe woke up in the afternoon, feeling dizzy.
"Where's Cynthia?" she asked Wade.
"The woman who was taking care of you? She left. How did you catch a cold?" Wade asked.
"I don't know," Chloe said casually. She didn't want to mention Donovan and risk Wade mocking her.
She checked her phone and saw several messages from Ann, not just about Donovan but also about Carol and Brayden.
Ann: [Chloe, Carol came to the firm. I'm getting depressed. She always has so many bad ideas, and she's an investor. I'm too old to switch companies so casually, so I'll just have to hang in there.]
Chloe felt sorry for Ann every time she said this. She transferred some money to Ann with a note: [Be happy.]
There was also a message from Susan: [Chloe, Pamela has been staying at Aurora Isle recently. I ran into her again and took a photo. Here.]
Susan sent a photo of herself with Pamela. Susan was pretty, but next to Pamela, it was clear Pamela had better looks and a healthier complexion. The difference between a celebrity and an ordinary person was obvious.
Chloe didn't notice the mole by Pamela's ear this time, maybe because it was a front view, while last time, Susan's sticker was a side view. Also, this time, it was a long shot, while last time, it was a close-up. Pamela might have had the mole removed.
Chloe replied to Susan: [Impressive, you took another photo with Pamela. When I return to Aurora Isle, introduce me to her. I want a photo with her too.]
