After checking in with her department, Sofia headed to Donovan's office.
Donovan was busy signing documents when she walked in.
Without looking up, he asked, "What's up?"
"Mr. Blake, I had a video call with Chloe this morning. She said she arrived in Verdania and everything went smoothly," Sofia replied.
"Okay," Donovan said, still focused on his paperwork.
Sofia hesitated, then added, "Chloe mentioned she sent you a WhatsApp message, but you didn't reply. I told her you might not have seen it. Haven't you pinned her chat?"
Donovan glanced up, clearly annoyed, making Sofia want to bolt.
"Goodbye, Mr. Blake!" she said, quickly scooting away and closing the door behind her.
Meanwhile, Barbara received a pearl necklace from an anonymous sender. The pearls were lustrous and seemed valuable, likely from abroad.
Worried it might be from Paisley and could be dangerous, Barbara decided to get it checked out. She'd seen enough on TV to know about tricks like sending harmful jewelry.
She took the necklace to a specialized appraisal agency. The results showed it was safe to wear.
Since Barbara needed accessories for an audition, she decided to wear the elegant necklace.
She wore it to the set for her audition for a new role in the film "Say Her Name," produced by Virgil's company. It was a suspense movie, and she was trying out for the second female antagonist role.
The casting director wasn't impressed, noting her lack of experience and notable works. Barbara felt dejected.
Just as she was about to leave, Carol walked in, there for some fun on her day off. She noticed the necklace Barbara was wearing.
Carol quickly grabbed Barbara's resume. 'Barbara. She used to be Paisley's assistant.' She realized Barbara was Chloe's cousin and that the necklace was the one Chloe had sent.
Chloe had given the necklace to her estranged cousin Barbara to shift the risk!
Carol had bought that necklace for Chloe, spending a lot to support her career. She was enraged that Chloe had discarded her gift and given it to someone else!
"Director, call her back. I know her. Give her the role of the main female antagonist or the second female antagonist," Carol said.
Since Barbara was Chloe's enemy, Carol decided to support her. The enemy of her enemy was her friend!
