Chapter 245 Worried
Donovan held the medicine all along.
Chloe was lost in thought, staring at it.
"I wouldn't resort to such despicable means to achieve what I want," he said to Chloe.
Seeing through Chloe's thoughts, Donovan made her feel embarrassed all of a sudden.
If he had not used underhanded means but had personally prepared the medicine for Chloe, she should have been grateful to him.
"Thank you," Chloe finally breathed a sigh of relief and started to drink the medicine.
Donovan kept watching her until she finished the last sip of the medicine.
"Go to sleep." Taking the glass from Chloe's hand, he turned off the light.
Chloe heard him go to the kitchen and then return to the next room, which finally allowed her to fall asleep.
Perhaps the medicine prescribed by Dr. Green contained a sedative, so Chloe quickly drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, she felt better.
Chloe immediately checked her stomach, finding nothing abnormal. She then took a photo of the two prescriptions given by Dr. Green to Jane to see if there were any irregularities.
Jane hadn't responded yet. She might be busy with work or consulting a doctor.
Jane specialized in obstetrics and gynecology, so she probably didn't fully understand the medications.
Holding her phone, Chloe went to the dining table.
Donovan hadn't gone to work. He was sitting at the table, probably just getting up.
As soon as Chloe sat down, he touched her forehead.
His hand was warm, and as soon as it touched Chloe's forehead, she felt a tingling sensation all over.
"No fever," he muttered to himself.
"Did you sweat after taking the medicine last night?" He asked Chloe casually while eating a sandwich.
"Yes, I'm feeling much better now." Although Chloe was better, she still felt weak and shaky, even struggling to hold the sandwich. Even holding a sandwich was challenging for her.
Just then, Donovan picked up a sandwich and placed it steadily on a small plate in front of Chloe.
Chloe was taken aback, feeling touched from deep within. But she then recalled Amelia, the dire situation Jacob found himself in, and the child Karen had tragically lost, all of which she blamed on this person.
"Where is Maya?" Chloe asked Donovan as she ate her sandwich.
"She went out to get your medicine," Donovan replied.
Chloe ate her sandwich while drinking milk.
Her phone rang a few times, but Chloe was lost in her thoughts and didn't respond.
Donovan glanced at her phone, and the contents on Chloe's phone screen caught his eye.
Jane: [I asked our hospital's doctor, and they said these are all cold remedies. The medications were prescribed very carefully and posed no harm to pregnant women. You can rest assured.]
Chloe suddenly remembered that it was a message from Jane.
When she finally looked at her phone, she realized that Donovan had already seen it.
Although the full content wasn't visible on the phone screen, Donovan, being extremely astute, must have guessed everything.
She felt extremely awkward and embarrassed.
"If you continue to be suspicious like this, be careful I might really kill your child!" Donovan said menacingly.
Chloe shuddered.
It seemed he could read her thoughts clearly.
Living with him meant being on edge all the time. Chloe had considered telling him the truth many times to stop feeling so fearful, but the memory of Amelia's death made her reluctant.
Maya returned, finally breaking the tense atmosphere between the two.
"Chloe, I'll go prepare your medicine," Maya said, smiling as she entered the kitchen.
Chloe felt like she was going crazy staying at home all day, especially with Donovan around. Her nerves were constantly on edge, which wasn't good for the two babies in her belly.
She wanted to go out for a walk, but she feared a repeat of the incident with Ellie pushing her. A miscarriage would be devastating, and Chloe cherished her life.
However, carrying twins made her body much heavier than others.
"Could you get me a car and a driver?" After contemplating, Chloe requested Donovan.
"Wanna go out?" Donovan asked.
"Not just today, but in the future. I can't always stay upstairs. I need to work," Chloe explained.
Donovan looked Chloe up and down, his gaze settling on her abdomen, before he slowly asked, "Are you so worried about these two babies?"
