Chapter 194 Spoiled Rotten
The deliveryman said Chloe's package had been left at the front desk for her to pick up.
Chloe's shopping app showed that Donovan's underwear had arrived.
She excitedly went downstairs.
"I have a delivery!" Chloe beamed as she walked toward the front desk.
The receptionists glanced over and gestured at something for Chloe.
Following their gaze, Chloe saw Donovan on a nearby couch and talking to someone.
He had also noticed Chloe and furrowed his brows in response.
Chloe stuck her tongue out, just like what she used to do during her school days when she bumped into a teacher while shopping with her friends.
As she was about to leave, Donovan waved her over.
The person sitting across from Donovan was a stranger.
"What did you buy?" Donovan asked Chloe.
Chloe was too embarrassed to say anything while other people were around, so she only replied, "I don't know. I have to open it first."
"Alright. Head back upstairs."
Chloe happily ran upstairs.
"Was that Mrs. Blake?" the stranger asked Donovan.
Donovan chuckled. "Yes. She has been spoiled rotten."
"Mrs. Blake is very happy and beautiful. On the real estate, it's settled. I'll have the contract sent over to you on another day," the other person said.
"Okay."
Donovan returned to his office and saw Chloe standing in front of his desk with her back turned to him.
"It's here. Try it on!" Chloe had already opened the package and was holding out a pair of underwear.
Chloe's eyes sparkled the entire time.
Donovan glanced at the underwear she was holding out and leisurely lit a cigarette.
"It's study time now. You shouldn't be looking at underwear."
The smile on Chloe's face instantly disappeared, and she sheepishly returned to her seat to study.
Donovan also returned to his desk.
He summoned Charles for the lesson.
Chloe thought to herself, 'This man is so controlling. He won't even let my teacher teach me anything when he's not around.'
That meant he surely hated Brayden for the close relationship she always maintained with Brayden.
However, he did not say anything even if he hated Brayden.
Suddenly, Chloe remembered that she had left the underwear out on the desk. It would be embarrassing if Charles saw it.
Just as she stood up, Donovan frowned and asked, "What are you doing?"
"I..."
"Sit down for your class!"
Chloe could only sit back down. Well, even if Charles saw the underwear later, Brayden would only be the one embarrassed.
When Charles arrived at the office, he asked, "Is Chloe okay from earlier?"
In an instant, he saw the underwear Chloe had placed on the desk earlier.
Charles knew the whole story of Chloe changing Donovan's underwear, so he just said, "Alright. I understand. It was indeed inconvenient for outsiders to be present."
He probably assumed Donovan had been changing his underwear just now.
Chloe was about to explain what had happened, but thought, 'Forget it. It's useless.'
That day's class was shortened. After class, Chloe got into Donovan's car.
"L&J is buying land. Keep an ear out," Donovan said to Chloe.
"What?" Chloe was puzzled.
"The thing we talked about last time."
Chloe still could not remember what he was talking about. "What did we talk about last time?"
Was their last conversation about Paisley giving him a watch or a shirt?
Donovan gritted his teeth. "About starting a company! Forget it. Don't worry about it. I was just being presumptuous!"
Upon hearing him use such strong words, Chloe felt a bit guilty and suddenly recalled what happened.
"I thought you were just joking."
"I never joke," Donovan angrily said.
Chloe fell silent. Her guilt only grew.
Just as she was feeling down, her phone pinged with a WhatsApp message. She opened it to see a message from Sofia.
The photo attached showed Logan holding an especially cute child.
Sofia: [Well?]
Chloe: [This child is so adorable. It makes me want to give him a hug and a kiss. Let's visit him on Saturday.]
The child was the child of Sofia's sister. He was four months old and already able to roll over.
As Sofia's sister had put in a lot of effort in dealing with Ellie's imitation bag incident, Chloe felt the need to thank her in person. Also, Chloe quite liked Sofia's nephew.
Sofia: [I meant the older one!]
Chloe: [Ah!]
Chloe then noticed Logan.
Sofia's nephew was also Logan's nephew.
Chloe: [Handsome and stylish, a perfect match for you.]
Sofia: [I love hearing that. Is Saturday afternoon okay?]
Chloe: [Sure. After the visit, I'll go straight to my mom's place.]
Then, Chloe turned to Donovan and asked for permission. "On Saturday afternoon, I want to go see Sofia's nephew and then head to my mom's place. I won't be back for the night. Is that okay, dear?"
Chloe was afraid Donovan would not say yes as he did not like her staying out overnight.
Unexpectedly, Donovan kindly said, "Go ahead."
