Chapter 240 Uncomfortable
Donovan's call was made to the head of L&J.
The factory had already started operating. He had originally wanted to give Chloe a surprise, but unfortunately, she went abroad and didn't know about it.
He thought, 'She came and opened another First accounting firm with someone else. Quite a change of heart!'
Listening to Donovan's phone conversation, Charles said, "It's easy to make Chloe feel isolated."
"She brought it upon herself," Donovan said, turning his head towards the window. "No one forced her to give gifts."
"But she's pregnant after all, and with twins. In case of an accident..." Charles was unexpectedly worried. "If she's isolated, she definitely won't have a good time in the Perez family."
"If she's not having a good time, then she should move out," Donovan replied.
Charles thought, 'To make Chloe move out, that must be Donovan's true intention.'
A few days later, L&J adjusted its sales strategy, focusing on brand stories. Each piece of clothing had the brand's origin written on the label. The husband's surname and the wife's name both contained the letter "L." One day, the wife said to her husband that she didn't want to always buy clothes from outside for her husband. So, the husband promised to open a factory together to specialize in men's clothing and accessories, making it easier for those wives who love their husbands to shop.
This story was advertised for almost half a month.
It was very touching.
It led to a wave of sales for L&J.
However, Chloe didn't buy clothes anymore, so naturally, she didn't know.
But Ronald looked very good in this outfit, so Betty decided to buy him another one.
That was how Betty saw the brand story.
She even found the story romantic and asked the salesperson, "What's the name of your chairman?"
"Donovan," the salesperson replied.
Betty fell silent for a long time. Donovan's ex-wife was Chloe.
Chloe's name contained an "L."
This incident remained hidden in Betty's heart.
Even though it was in the past, Betty didn't treat Chloe the same way anymore.
After all, now everyone knew about her and Donovan's past affair, making it awkward for Brayden.
Although Betty didn't tell Brayden about this, Brayden knew.
Recently, L&J's advertisements were everywhere. One day, while he was working on the computer, an L&J promotional ad suddenly popped up in the bottom right corner.
That was how Brayden found out.
Chloe worked every day, and she also saw it.
Chloe was upset and didn't understand why Donovan was treating her this way.
Brayden silently took off the shirt Chloe had given him.
For a moment, the atmosphere in Brayden's house seemed tense.
Despite this, Brayden still treated Chloe well to maintain surface peace.
Sometimes, Brayden wanted Chloe to try some food, but Betty would say, "Brayden, just eat your food. You don't even know what Chloe likes."
Chloe could sense Betty's change. At such times, she felt lonely staying in someone else's home.
She missed Amelia more and resented Donovan even more.
Christmas was approaching soon.
On that day, Brayden specially asked Chloe to come downstairs, where he had set up a lot of fireworks in the yard.
Chloe covered her ears, unable to help but remember the fireworks she had watched with Brayden in Sunshine Bay City last year.
"Chloe, watch fireworks with me from now on!" Brayden said to Chloe.
Chloe covered her ears, pretending not to hear anything, just smiling and staring at Brayden.
Seeing Chloe's reaction, Brayden felt a bit awkward, as it seemed Chloe was unwilling.
But he thought there was still time.
Even she and Donovan's shirt brand were a thing of the past.
Ronald felt anxious seeing the two of them looking somewhat sweet.
Although he was polite to Chloe on the surface, deep down, he didn't like her. He wasn't sure if the children were Brayden's, and with Brayden's bright future, how could he possibly choose a woman who had been married before?
'It would be better for Chloe to give up on this woman.' Ronald thought.
He felt like Donovan was trying to force the Perez family to drive Chloe away.
Donovan had always been very cunning and extremely proud; even at times like this, he insisted on making the Perez family beg him. Otherwise, Donovan wouldn't casually release that advertisement.
Ronald dialed Donovan's number with trembling hands.
"Mr. Blake, there's something I'd like to ask you. Chloe doesn't want to stay with us lately."
"Why doesn't she want to?" Donovan asked calmly.
"I'm not sure, maybe she's not comfortable living here."
"If that's the case, should I take her away?" Donovan said.
"Okay, that's fine." Ronald sounded very happy.
"When?" Donovan asked again.
"This afternoon. It's best before Brayden comes home," Ronald said.
"Alright."
In the afternoon, after finishing a day's work in the bedroom, Chloe was about to go for a walk in the park when she saw Donovan entering the Perez family's gate.
The two met at the entrance.
She was surprised, even a little panicked, not knowing why he suddenly came here.
Donovan also looked at Chloe, whose belly was even bigger now. Her face showed some fatigue, giving her a charm of lassitude.
Chloe couldn't catch her breath when she saw Donovan, instinctively leaning against the wall.
Donovan ignored her and walked straight into the living room.
Ronald had already come out of the room.
"Mr. Blake, what an honor to have you here!" Ronald spoke to Donovan.
Ronald sneaked a glance at Chloe.
"Chloe, don't go out for now." Ronald waved to Chloe to come back.
Then, he flatteringly explained to Donovan, "She's tired from work every day and likes to take a walk in the park."
"I see." Donovan sat on the sofa.
From Chloe's perspective, she could only see his back.
Even his back seemed free-spirited, making people like him at first sight.
But this person had planned for Chloe to move out from the beginning, from giving Chloe snacks to releasing the L&J brand story, and now, he was starting to pull the net.
As long as Chloe was living comfortably, he felt uncomfortable.
