Chapter 472 Don't Miss Out on My Dad
In Betty's name, Daniel rolled up to stop Chloe from patching things up with Donovan. But now, with him showing up and accidentally sparking an identity reveal between Francis and Chloe, he felt like he just made a mess of things.
He never wanted to be the bad guy, and he was a bit of a chicken and didn't want any drama. Betty had threatened to cut off his allowance and boot him out of the mansion if he didn't play along. Without cash, he had no power. Plus, Daniel kinda wanted to see Chloe too, so he went along with the visit.
"Since your student's here, I'm out," Daniel said. "I'll leave these pics with you."
With that, Daniel bounced, leaving the mess he had made behind him.
Down in the garden, Betty was pacing, waiting for Daniel. Seeing him stroll over, Betty asked, "How'd it go?"
"Uh, it was alright." Not wanting to piss off Betty, Daniel didn't mention the whole Francis and Chloe thing. He said, "One of her students, Jeffery, showed up, saying he was dropping off eggs for a classmate."
"Really?" Betty smirked, satisfied. Jeffery was at Pearl Peak City University, and she figured Chloe would cave eventually. "Whatever you do, don't tell Barbara. That dummy has a crush on Jeffery!"
"Has a crush on Jeffery?" Daniel tried to remember Jeffery's face. The guy was good-looking, tall, and seemed fit. If he was still a student, he had to be a few years younger than Barbara. "Barbara's got good taste."
Betty rolled her eyes. "Get lost! Barbara's about to lose the lead role."
"As long as we've got enough cash, what else do we need? Isn't this better than our days in Sunshine Bay City?"
Betty ignored him; she was already thinking about replacing him.
"Mom, make me some egg tarts," Francis called out excitedly from the sofa, looking at Chloe.
Hearing that, Chloe had to respond. She thought, things had gone this far, and she had no choice. Plus, Francis was calling her "Mom" on purpose for Jeffery to hear. He had noticed Jeffery's feelings for Chloe.
Sure enough, hearing Francis call her "Mom," Jeffery clenched his fists. Despite the turmoil inside, he liked Chloe and respected Donovan.
"Francis, you know Chloe's your mom now?" Jeffery walked up to Francis, squatted down, and held his arm.
"Yeah."
"Since you know, listen to your mom from now on, okay? She loves you a lot." Jeffery squeezed Francis's arm.
Seeing the gentle look on Jeffery's face, Francis felt a bit guilty for his earlier behavior. He softly called out, "Jeffery."
"I'm out," Jeffery said, patting Francis's head before walking out.
Chloe stood there, stunned.
Francis looked at Chloe. "You're my mom? I'm so stoked to have such a beautiful and rich mom. Why'd you split with my dad? I swear, he hasn't been with any woman in the past three years." Francis raised his right hand, making a swearing gesture.
Chloe laughed. "What do you know, kid?"
"Anyway, my dad's handsome and loaded. Don't miss out on him," Francis said smartly.
A moment later, he seemed to suddenly realize how proud he was to have a mom. He hugged Chloe tightly again and murmured, "Mom."
Chloe's tears welled up and spilled over. All along, the only thing that could heal her was this word "Mom." It felt like all the gaps in her heart were filled.
