Chapter 648 He Just Smiled
Jane took off to find Chloe.
Lately, with Charlotte being such a fierce competitor, Jane's been chasing after Jeffery like there's no tomorrow. She's been hitting up Chloe for advice, asking her to come up with plans. Jane's never worked this hard, not even in school.
This all went down yesterday afternoon, and Donovan was home too.
Chloe was lounging on the couch, mumbling to herself, "Is this Charlotte's handwriting? It's pretty good."
"Chloe, whose side are you on?" Jane snapped.
"Of course, I'm on your side, but we need to know our enemy. Charlotte's all over Jeffery, but he hasn't budged yet. How do we make her lose interest in him so Charles can swoop in?" Chloe frowned, deep in thought, but couldn't come up with anything.
Donovan had an idea, but it was kinda shady. Plus, he couldn't tell Chloe, or she'd call him sneaky. He liked to steer clear of that stuff if he could.
So, since he couldn't guide Chloe, today he decided to help out Abigail and Charles instead.
The three of them were sitting at the highest point, looking out over Maple Valley.
"Mr. Blake, you actually have time to hang out with us now? That's a first," Charles joked.
"Haven't felt like it in years."
"Yeah, it's tough to be in the mood when your wife takes off," Charles added.
Charles hit a nerve, and Donovan wasn't happy, but Charles and Abigail just laughed.
"But seriously, Charles, you're in a tough spot. Think about it, Charlotte's after Jeffery, and he seems perfect. You can't win her over by force. Unless, maybe, Charlotte finds out something bad about Jeffery," Abigail said.
"A flaw?" Charles frowned. "I don't know Jeffery well enough to know his flaws."
Actually, what Abigail said had already crossed Donovan's mind.
"Donovan, you know Jeffery better. Does he have any flaws?" Charles asked.
Donovan leaned back and said mysteriously, "Jeffery and I are tight. Even if he has flaws, I can't just spill the beans, can I?"
"You should ask Charlotte out sometime," Donovan suggested.
"Ask her out for what?" Charles was curious since it was about him.
And Charles thought Donovan was always plotting, so he must have a plan. Charles quickly said, "Sure. When?"
Donovan squinted at the view, "I'll let you know. It should be soon."
Charles was confused, "What do you mean by 'soon'?"
"Don't worry about it. When the time comes, just tell Charlotte that our Rebecca Residential Community is planning to shoot a video from the air and ask her to help out," Donovan said.
"Alright."
"Mr. Blake, who never deals with small stuff, is now playing matchmaker for Charles?" Abigail teased.
Donovan just smiled.
