Chapter 454 Not Chasing Anymore
Jeffery returned to Pearl Peak University and started running blindlyon the back field.
Chloe knew about it, Donovan knew about it, everyone knew about it, and they were all just laughing at him.
He still remembered that before the semester started, Chloe was in a long dress, her skin a healthy tan, and she was looking incredibly beautiful under the sun. She stood at the school gate, and that image had left a deep impression on him.
He had fallen in love with Chloe at first sight.
He finally liked someone, but it was someone he shouldn't like!
It wasn't that he minded Chloe being previously married and having a child, but her ex-husband was Donovan. Jeffery and Donovan had a good relationship, yet Donovan hadn't said anything to him. Maybe Donovan didn't say anything because he wanted Maya to handle it.
Just as he was thinking about these things, Jeffery's phone rang. It was a WhatsApp message from Maya.
Maya: [Listen to me, Chloe belongs to Mr. Blake. Don't get involved. I understand their attitude. This matter is best handled by me. Stop liking Chloe. There are plenty of good girls in the world. Do you think you can compete with Mr. Blake?]
Jeffery threw his phone aside and continued running.
He didn't know how many laps he had run. By the end of it, he was drenched in sweat. Exhausted, he sat down to rest.
Someone handed him a bottle of water.
Jeffery looked up and saw Barbara standing there.
Barbara had just finished shooting a night scene and saw Jeffery running. She decided to approach him.
"Barbara." Jeffery looked up and glanced at Barbara.
"You ran over fifty laps," Barbara said as she sat down next to Jeffery.
"I don't know. I didn't count. I just felt like I had endless energy," Jeffery said, panting while drinking water. "Did you know about it too?"
"Know what?" Barbara asked, puzzled.
"That Chloe's ex-husband is Donovan. Aren't you her cousin?" Jeffery prodded.
"Of course, but that was a long time ago. When someone is pursuing Chloe, who would bring up her ex-husband, right?" Barbara made an excuse.
Jeffery didn't say anything more.
Barbara thought, 'Well, at least it wasn't me who told Jeffery; he found out on his own.'
She wondered what Pamela would do next.
"Do you still plan to pursue her?" Barbara asked him.
"No, if I keep pursuing her, it will embarrass her and make my mom uncomfortable. I thought she didn't agree because she was being reserved, but it turns out that's not the case." Jeffery looked into the distance and then smiled bitterly. "I can't catch up to her; she even has a child."
It was this statement from Jeffery that made Barbara see him in a new light.
To avoid embarrassing Chloe and making Maya uncomfortable, he decided not to pursue Chloe.
Barbara sat there with Jeffery, thinking, 'As long as he stops pursuing Chloe, it gives me a chance. As for how to handle Chloe and Donovan's matter, that's for Pamela to figure out. After all, it's not my responsibility; Maya is handling it.'
"Yeah, you said she's your teacher, and she has a child, so she can't avoid being tied to her ex-husband. She gave part of her heart to Donovan all those years ago. Even if you win her over, she would only be half-hearted. You're such a great guy; I feel sorry for you," Barbara said.
Jeffery held the bottle of water in silence and kept looking into the distance.
