Chapter 409 I'll Transfer It to You
In September, the new semester at Pearl Peak City University brought a flood of students. Chloe felt instantly rejuvenated; people on campus never seemed to age.
On Wednesday morning, Chloe had a graduate-level Finance class to teach called Financial Accounting Research.
Today, Chloe was dressed in a soft, body-hugging denim dress that accentuated her curves beautifully. The fabric draped her figure with just the right amount of ease, enhancing her youthful and vibrant appearance. She had pulled her hair back into a neat style and opted for a subtle makeup look, reflecting her respect for her classmates while maintaining an air of effortless elegance.
This year's graduate class in the Finance Department had about twenty students, covering several research areas. For the first class, Chloe was a bit nervous, and the hot weather made her forehead slightly sweaty.
"Hello, everyone. I'm your accounting teacher, Chloe," she said, writing her name on the blackboard. Her handwriting was beautiful, a mix of strength and elegance. She heard the students whispering and guessed they were talking about how young she looked compared to other finance professors, who were usually around forty. They were probably also wondering where she graduated from and if she was married. Chloe smiled, remembering how she used to discuss her teachers the same way.
Jeffery, sitting in the last row, watched Chloe with interest. He was shocked to see such a young teacher for a graduate-level course. He thought, 'She must have a Ph.D., so she should be twenty-seven or twenty-eight, maybe twenty-nine? But she looked just like a college student.'
Chloe's lectures were a masterclass in clarity and engagement. She explained complex concepts in an accessible way, weaving in representative examples that really hit the mark. Her teaching style was both engaging and insightful, making her classes a hit among students. They found her lessons not just informative but also genuinely enjoyable, eagerly soaking up every bit of knowledge she shared.
After class, it was already 11:50 AM, and Chloe hurried to the first cafeteria to eat. It wasn't the faculty cafeteria, but it was close to her 1 PM class in the first building. With time tight, she just wanted a quick bite.
The cafeteria was crowded at noon. Chloe waited in line among the students. "Ms. Baker?" Jeffery walked past her with a tray. "Jeffery?" Chloe was surprised to see him. "Can't you cook?" he asked, teasingly. "I have a class at 1 PM," Chloe said, glancing at her watch. It was already 12:15 PM.
Jeffery took Chloe's tray and went to the front of the line. Soon, he returned with two meals and found seats for them. "Why don't you go to the faculty cafeteria?" he asked.
Chloe looked at the pizza and pasta on her tray. "How did you know I like these?" she asked. Jeffery smirked. "You like them? I just picked the expensive ones. Even if you don't like them, you wouldn't want to waste them."
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Chloe said, "How much? I'll transfer it to you," taking out her phone. "Fifteen dollars. Go ahead," Jeffery said, showing her the QR code. Chloe added him on WhatsApp and transferred the money.
"You still haven't said why you're eating here," Jeffery pressed. "My afternoon class is in the first building, and this is the closest cafeteria," Chloe said, glancing at her watch again. It was 12:35 PM, and she needed to hurry.
"Where did you graduate from?" Jeffery asked.
"You'll find out soon. Your advisor will hold a meeting to introduce each mentor's background. I'm full. I have to go," Chloe said, standing up and taking her tray to the return area before hurrying out.
