Chapter 513 Facilitating the Relationship Between Donovan and Chloe

Cynthia wanted to ask Donovan why he totally ignored her when they bumped into each other yesterday. Not seeing Donovan's car downstairs, she decided to head up and check things out, only to find Jeffery chilling in Chloe's study, reading.

"Where's Ms. Baker?" Cynthia asked, glancing around Chloe's living room. The research project on the computer caught her eye.

"Oh, someone invited Ms. Baker out for dinner. She's not here. Do you need her for something?" Jeffery replied, barely looking up as he snapped photos.

"Nothing major. Just thought if she was around, we could grab dinner together." Cynthia said, her eyes still on Chloe's research project, an idea forming in her mind.

Chloe's computer was on the coffee table in the living room, while Jeffery was in the study. Jeffery couldn't see Cynthia from his spot, but thanks to a full-length mirror, Cynthia had a clear view of him.

Quickly, Cynthia emailed Chloe's research project to herself, then deleted it from Chloe's computer. She also wiped her browsing history and restored the computer to its original state.

"Since Ms. Baker isn't here, I'll be going now." Cynthia said, heading out.

Jeffery responded slowly, still engrossed in his task. He took about a hundred pages of photos, then locked Chloe's door and left.

At the restaurant.

"Chloe, what's going on with you and Donovan? Everything seemed fine, and then suddenly..." Charles said, sounding a bit regretful.

"It's in the past. I don't want to talk about it." Chloe replied, fiddling with the utensils. Donovan's ruthlessness scared her, and she had gotten used to keeping her distance from him over the years. Plus, Pamela was like a ticking time bomb, always making Chloe uneasy.

"Since Donovan still has feelings for you, why not give him a chance? This situation isn't good for Francis either, don't you think?" Charles usually spoke casually, but this time he was more serious.

"He still has feelings?" Chloe scoffed, "If he does, why is he so quick to post a personal ad online?"

"That? That wasn't his doing. You were mad at him, and he got mad at you and wouldn't let me take the ad down. You should try to make things work with Donovan. Otherwise, with his qualities, do you think he can't find a girlfriend?" Charles said.

"Let's eat." Chloe said, ending the conversation.

After dinner, Charles took Chloe back to Willow Grove Estates and then returned to his hotel. Back at the hotel, Charles called Donovan. "Donovan, Chloe said that since you're looking to get married, she wants to apply for priority. After all, she's Francis's biological mother. If you're considering marriage, she wants you to consider her first. What do you think?"

"She said that?" Donovan asked, skeptical.

"Yes, Chloe would do anything for Francis. You won't give Francis to her. She's afraid you'll find a girl in her twenties who won't have the patience for the child. She's definitely scared. So, she wants you to consider her first," Charles said.

"You didn't tell her that the personal ad was someone else's doing, did you?" Donovan asked.

"Donovan, what do you take me for? How could I say something like that?" Charles lied, his tone full of chagrin.

"You've always liked to talk, haven't you?" Donovan seemed to be in a good mood, even bantering with Charles.

Charles fell silent. His trip to Pearl Peak City was unnecessary; he was only there to help improve the relationship between Donovan and Chloe.
