Chapter 421 Date Me

In the afternoon, Chloe hit the library. This time, she didn't bump into Jeffery, which was a relief.

After getting back, she took a nap, worked on her paper for a bit, and then headed to the cafeteria for dinner. While eating, she thought, 'Should I call Francis and cancel tonight? But he's using Donovan's phone, so Donovan will answer.' That thought made her nervous.

Back home, she kept working on her paper and suddenly realized it was past seven. Just as she was debating whether to call Francis, she heard someone downstairs calling her name.

She peered down from the window, following the sound, and her gaze first landed on a sea of red below. Candles arranged in the shape of a heart were alight, with Jeffery standing in the center, calling up to Chloe on the second floor.

Chloe's brows knitted tightly together. She was new to the school and wanted to avoid such gossip like the plague.

Moreover, she believed that the more extravagant a pursuit was, the more it was for show, a performance for the benefit of others. It would only appear hollow the more one did it. She detested such actions profoundly.

As the crowd of onlookers grew, it seemed that she was on track to become the headline news of the school tomorrow.

She quickly went downstairs and whispered to Jeffery, "What are you doing? Trying to embarrass me?"

Jeffery, eyes fixed on her, said, "I was just worried about you. Since you're fine, I won't be so dramatic. It's not safe for you to live alone." He then used a basketball to extinguish the candles.

Chloe was about to head back when Jeffery grabbed her waist, his breath warm on her ear, making her blush. "Date me," he said.

"Get lost!" Chloe snapped. She hadn't been close to a man in years, especially not someone like Donovan. Jeffery's sudden touch made her tremble.

"I'm your teacher!" she said sternly.

"The school doesn't ban teachers from dating students!"

"I'll report you tomorrow!"

"Go ahead!" Jeffery kept his arm around her waist, and she couldn't break free. She was furious. She had just started at the school, and Jeffery was already causing trouble.

Then Jeffery's phone rang. He hesitated but answered when he saw the number. Chloe took the chance to run away.

"Hello, Mr. Blake," Jeffery said, still excited.

"Jeffery, do you have class tomorrow?" the voice asked.

"If you need me, even if I do have classes, I can skip them," Jeffery replied.

"Can you look after Francis for me this afternoon? I have a negotiation to attend, and taking him along would be inconvenient."

"Sure, what time?"

"Two in the afternoon. I'll send you the location."

"Okay, I'll be there."

Jeffery hung up, glanced at Chloe's window, and left.

He thought, 'Chloe said her child has already grown up. Let me just ignore her appearance; even though it has been almost ten days since the school year started, no man has visited her new home. Given she had just moved and started a new job, one would expect a boyfriend to drop by, out of courtesy or affection. But there is no one.'
