Chapter 242 Any Objections?
Donovan placed Chloe's suitcase in her room and then sat on the sofa.
"Mrs. Blake, my room is over here." Maya pointed to another dim room.
"This is my room. Any objections?" Donovan faced Chloe and asked.
Chloe was momentarily speechless. Although the house was under her name, she had no connection to it whatsoever and hadn't contributed a penny.
"No," Chloe replied.
"From now on, Maya will be cook for you. Stay upstairs as much as possible," Donovan said, "If you need anything and feel uncomfortable telling me, you can tell Maya."
"It's not your babies, and you really don't have to do this!" Chloe suddenly blurted out.
She had been standing at the entranceway the whole time, where she could see Donovan's profile.
At that moment, she noticed a shiver in Donovan's temple.
"Mrs. Blake, why do you have to be at odds with Mr. Blake like this? Making Mr. Blake angry won't do you any good," Maya comforted.
"Also, since he and I are already divorced, you don't have to call me Mrs. Blake anymore," Chloe told Maya.
"Well..." Maya was a bit hesitant.
"Just call her Chloe!" Donovan made this remark coldly, then rose from the sofa and went to his room to change clothes.
Chloe also went to her room, roughly tidied up her things, and took out her diary.
She no longer needed to hand in the diary every day as she used to, so she felt more free to express herself.
The events of this period made her feel like life was a rollercoaster, and she recorded everything meticulously.
She could deceive Donovan, but she couldn't deceive herself in the future. What she wrote in her diary was her truth.
The writing desk could be locked, and after finishing, she put the diary in a locked drawer.
Next door, in Donovan's room, he was looking at a stack of copied documents.
These were Chloe's previous diaries.
Donovan thought that if Chloe knew he was reading them, she wouldn't write her innermost thoughts in the diary. So, he had David make copies of her diary every day and pay attention to her little traps, like not touching her hair or anything.
In her diary, she had no kind words for him: scoundrel, jerk, and more.
Unfortunately, he wouldn't have diaries to read in the future.
Chloe couldn't get a good sleep and constantly woke up. She felt drowsy during the day, and her circadian rhythm was thrown into complete disarray.
After writing in her diary, she went to bed and turned off the lights in her room.
In a daze, she seemed to hear some movement, Donovan's voice coming from the living room.
She couldn't hear clearly.
"Didn't you get rid of her child?" Someone asked.
"Since she didn't complain about getting rid of her child, then you don't have to worry," Donovan replied.
Upon hearing this, Chloe panicked instantly.
She felt that Donovan might be planning to abort her babies.
Chloe was terrified, breaking out in a cold sweat.
He had every reason to get rid of her children because he knew they weren't his babies. Donovan, the renowned figure in Maple Valley, wouldn't raise someone else's child. It was clear that he had brought her here for this purpose!
Chloe thought, 'Should I tell him the truth?'
Just as Chloe was at a loss, her phone rang several times.
It was Brayden.
Brayden: [Chloe, where are you?]
Chloe quickly sent Brayden the location of this house.
Chloe: [Will you come?]
Brayden: [Yes. I'm worried about you, so I'll come and check.]
Chloe: [Okay.]
Chloe was aware that if she were alone in the house, Donovan would have no inhibitions about doing whatever he wished to her. But if there were more people around, the situation would drastically change.
Chloe hoped Brayden would arrive soon.
As Chloe opened the door, Donovan just hung up the phone.
She had to wait outside to let Brayden in. If she weren't there, Donovan would likely not allow Brayden to enter.
"Awake?" Donovan saw her coming out and asked.
"Yes, I've been having trouble sleeping lately," Chloe said. As soon as she stepped out, the sweat that had been scared out of her dried up instantly, making her feel cold all over, with her forehead damp with sweat.
She sat down on the sofa next to Donovan.
Seeing her sweaty hair, Donovan asked, "Why are you sweating so much?"
"Nothing. Maybe I had a nightmare just now."
Chloe thought to herself, 'The distance from Brayden's house to here was about half an hour.'
This time was torture for her.
She was afraid that something might happen, and Donovan's ruthlessness would spare no one.
