Chapter 310 Just You Alone?
Chloe suddenly remembered the purpose of meeting Sofia today was to discuss serious matters, but somehow, they ended up talking about Donovan.
"My grandma passed away, did you know that?" Chloe said, losing her appetite as she spoke.
"Seriously? I have no idea. When did that happen? Don't let it get you too low. At least you've got Mr. Blake by your side, or else, this past year..." Sofia thought back on how Chloe had lost three of her loved ones in just one year, a hardship that would knock most people off their feet.
Chloe was indeed sorrowful.
"I wanted to attend her funeral, but he didn't allow it. I understand, but I'm still sad. There are fewer and fewer people I can say goodbye to in this world," Chloe said, her eyes red.
Sofia patted her back. "When is her funeral?"
"Today," Chloe replied.
"No wonder."
"Also, my aunt said my grandma was burned to death. I always had the feeling that something was wrong. And Barbara, didn't she join the filming of 'The Elite'? That day, I went to reconcile accounts with the CFO of NexInnovate Technologies Company and saw Barbara being fired from the crew. She had been filming for a long time, and suddenly they replaced her. I don't think it's a coincidence."
Sofia was almost done with her pasta.
She held her head in her hands and looked sideways at Chloe. "Who do you think it was?"
Chloe didn't really want to say it, but a name still came to her mind: Paisley.
"If you're worried, should I go check it out for you?" Sofia suggested.
"No, you wouldn't find anything. Besides, Barbara knows you and would definitely be on guard," Chloe said while eating.
As she sat here eating a maternity meal leisurely, the realization that today was her grandmother's funeral made her lose her appetite.
She put down her spoon.
Sofia's eyes lit up. "What about Logan? Last time, although Logan took you to Sunshine Bay City, we didn't go inside, so Barbara doesn't know him."
"Forget it. He's recently been busy collaborating with NexInnovate Technologies Company. Don't bother him," Chloe said.
"I'll give him a call." With that, Sofia started dialing, and Chloe couldn't stop her.
"He agreed. He'll drive over to pick me up. What should I say when I get there?" Sofia asked Chloe after the call.
Since their first kiss in the suburbs, Logan had been avoiding Sofia, as if he had kissed her too impulsively and was afraid of giving her the wrong impression. So, he had been avoiding her.
However, Sofia knew that as long as it was about Chloe, Logan would agree, no matter how busy he was.
Sofia was certain of this.
And she just wanted to see Logan, even if it was for Chloe's sake, she could endure it.
Although she felt increasingly humble, in a relationship, it is always the one who falls in love first who is humblest.
Sofia made Chloe feel very awkward. Although she didn't want Logan to come because of her, it was a possibility.
Chloe feared that if this continued, Sofia would feel more and more uncomfortable.
But she had no solution.
"I'll transfer you five thousand dollars. I can't let you spend money on my grandma's funeral. Are you taking the afternoon off?" Chloe asked Sofia.
"I've finished my manuscript. It shouldn't be a problem," Sofia replied.
Logan's car arrived and parked in front of the New East Group building.
Chloe went straight upstairs without seeing Logan.
Sofia got into Logan's car.
"Just you alone?" Logan asked Sofia.
"Oh, right, Chloe asked me to go in her place," Sofia replied.
