Chapter 314 We Are Done
"I see," Chloe said, her teeth chattering.
"Chloe, you don't really know, do you? Are you lying to me?" Sofia was terrified. If something happened to Chloe's baby, how could she take responsibility?
Chloe's face grew paler. She had long known that Barbara was jealous and scheming, but she hadn't expected her to be this vicious.
Chloe remained silent.
Sofia watched her quietly.
When they finished eating and Chloe tried to stand up, she realized abdominal pain again, and she wobbled a bit.
"I'll help you to the office," Sofia said, supporting Chloe.
"Chloe, you must be alright. Logan has been insisting on not to letting me tell you about this matter," Sofia said apologetically.
"Take me to his floor," Chloe said.
"Whose?" Sofia thought quickly. "Mr. Blake's?"
"Yes."
Sofia didn't ask more questions. The elevator arrived at Donovan's floor.
Afraid that Donovan would blame her, she escorted Chloe to Donovan's office door, knocked and quickly ran away.
"Come in," Donovan said.
When Chloe entered, Donovan's assistant had just reheated his meal.
"Why are you here at this time?" Donovan asked, looking up.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed Chloe's pale face, beads of sweat on her forehead, and her hand clutching her stomach.
She pointed at Donovan, her voice trembling with tears. "If you dare give her any ideas about making a comeback, we're done."
Donovan didn't understand what Chloe was talking about, but he quickly walked over to her as he saw her in this state.
"Are you blaming me?" he asked, holding her hand after helping her sit on the couch.
"You can't help her." Chloe's eyes were somewhat unfocused.
"Stop talking. I'll take you to the hospital," Donovan said.
"No need, I know my body. I just need to rest for a bit," Chloe said, half-lying on the couch, half-leaning against him. "Promise me you won't let her make a comeback."
Donovan guessed she might be talking about Paisley, as Paisley had visited him that morning.
"I'm all your ears," Donovan finally relented.
In his life, he had never yielded to anyone.
Chloe sighed in relief. "Go eat, I'll just lie here for a while."
But Donovan, seeing Chloe drenched in sweat, was very worried.
He went to the bathroom, got a warm towel, and placed it on Chloe's forehead, holding it there.
"Why did you get so angry all of a sudden?" Donovan asked Chloe gently.
That morning, Paisley had come to him, saying Barbara was no longer her assistant anymore. Barbara had retaliated by smearing her, and Paisley tearfully complained that almost all brands had terminated their partnerships with her. Therefore, she asked Donovan for help.
And Donovan had thought of a way to help Paisley, so she left contentedly.
Donovan's original plan was to have Barbara and Paisley fight each other. Naturally, he couldn't let Barbara have all the advantages. If Barbara crushed Paisley completely, she wouldn't continue her revenge, and there would be no drama to watch.
Donovan still remembered that Paisley had tried to poison Kenneth.
Chloe sobbed as she told Donovan about Grandma Morgan's death, including Barbara's refusal to help and allowing the fire to consume Grandma Morgan, as well as the package Paisley had sent to Barbara.
"Give me the phone, I'll call the police," Chloe said, clutching Donovan's wrist as he held the towel to her head, crying pitifully.
