Chapter 324 Baby Girl Troubles
Although Paisley wasn't the one who did it, she insisted on lying to anger Chloe. After all, the case was already closed. She had nothing to worry about, and the police wouldn't convict her based on her words. However, Chloe, on the other hand, might not be able to have her children because of what Paisley said, especially since she was having twins, which was very risky.
Chloe was trembling all over, but she still commanded herself to stay calm.
"Since you've said your piece, you can leave now. I already knew," Chloe feigned calmness.
Paisley snorted and sashayed away.
Chloe felt awful. Her stomach hurt, her head ached, and she wanted to cry.
She didn't know what the absolute truth was. It could have been what Paisley or Donovan said. But this time, Chloe believed Paisley's words. After all, she had admitted it herself.
Chloe clutched her stomach and leaned against the coffee table.
"Mrs. Blake, what's wrong?" Maya had returned.
"I'm fine," Chloe's sweat dripped onto the table.
Maya quickly called Susan and asked her to come over.
"No need, I don't need to go to the hospital," Chloe said.
"No way, this time you can't have your way."
Soon, Susan arrived, and Maya helped Chloe into the car.
Maya also called Donovan while in the car.
"Mr. Blake, Chloe isn't doing well. She suddenly had stomach pains at the café. You should come to the hospital, Jane's hospital."
By the time Chloe arrived at the hospital, her face was as pale as a sheet.
"Chloe, what's wrong?" Jane supported Chloe.
She had Chloe get a blood test and then gave her an ultrasound order.
While Jane was looking at the test results, Donovan arrived.
He stood behind Chloe.
"What's going on? Your mood is affecting you, and one of the babies isn't developing well and isn't very active in the womb. Chloe, you need to calm down," Jane said anxiously, "This can't go on."
"Which baby?" Chloe asked.
"The girl."
Chloe seemed to murmur, "The girl?"
She really liked this baby girl.
"I'll prescribe some medication for you. Go home and take good care of yourself, and make sure to stay cheerful," Jane advised Chloe. "And Mr. Blake, what's going on? Last time both babies were fine. Chloe's bad mood has something to do with you, right?"
"It's my fault." Donovan held Chloe's shoulders.
"Take good care of yourself," Jane reminded Chloe again, still worried.
Maya and Donovan helped Chloe into the car. Maya sat in the front passenger seat while Chloe and Donovan sat in the back.
"What happened earlier?" Donovan touched Chloe's forehead and asked her.
Chloe pushed his hand away, turned her face towards the window, and ignored him.
Since they were outside and both Maya and Susan were in the car, Donovan didn't say anything more.
After they got home, Chloe went to her room to rest.
Donovan sat by her bed, stroking her hair.
Maya went to get Chloe's medication.
"What exactly happened?" Donovan asked Chloe.
"I'm tired, I want to rest. Mr. Blake, please leave," Chloe said coldly.
Donovan looked at her twice. Her eyes were already closed.
He stood up and called his assistant to check the surveillance footage from Brew Haven Cafe.
"No need to go through all that trouble. Paisley came and told me that she did send the package to Barbara, which caused the fire."
"And you believe her?" Donovan asked Chloe.
"I just believe her. Someone like her, with your support, is slowly getting back on her feet, returning to her former self. Mr. Blake, you're quite capable!" After saying that, Chloe pulled the blanket over her head and started crying. "If you want to help her, go ahead. Your relationship with her is your business, just don't let me know! I've never had any illusions about you, Mr. Blake. I'm just heartbroken for my grandma."
Seeing her sobbing figure, Donovan walked out.
In the living room, he ran into Maya carrying a glass of water.
"I told you to watch her. Why did you leave her alone?" Donovan said to Maya in a harsh tone.
"Mr. Blake," Maya felt wronged. She always had Chloe wait at Brew Haven Cafe while she went grocery shopping. After all, grocery shopping was tiring, and Chloe could rest at the café.
"Alright, I'm going out for a bit," Donovan said and left.
Maya carried the medication and water into Chloe's room.
"Mrs. Blake, it's time to take your medicine," Maya said.
Chloe got up.
Jane had said that the baby girl wasn't doing well. She really liked the girl and didn't want her to miscarry, so she would take her medicine properly.
"I'll take it," Chloe said.
"Where is he?" After taking the medicine, Chloe listened intently for any sounds from the living room but heard nothing.
"Mr. Blake? He went out. You need to take good care of yourself. If you don't take care of this pregnancy, I'll be in big trouble," Maya coaxed Chloe.
