Chapter 650 Getting Sweeter and Sweeter
[Yeah, Mr. Blake and I. He wants to use your fancy tech to film our Rebecca Residential Community. What do you think, Ms. Rose?] Charles replied to Charlotte.
[Mr. Blake said that?]
[Yep. He doesn't have your contact info, so he asked me to set it up.]
Charlotte paused for a moment. In the business world, Donovan was the top dog, no question. He was miles ahead of the competition and loaded. Charlotte had never thought about teaming up with Donovan before; she just saw him as Maya's boss and wanted to stay on his good side. But now, it looked like joining forces with New East Group was a golden chance to expand her network.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime shot.
Even though Charlotte was a tech geek, she was also a savvy businesswoman. Charlotte Tech Innovations was just a regular private company, and she could easily see the perks of working with New East Group. So, Charlotte was stoked.
She quickly replied to Charles: [Mr. Wilson, you better not be pulling my leg.]
Charles thought, 'Yep, she's totally into it.'
[I'm not messing with you. Tomorrow morning at nine, where should I pick you up?]
[Near the military district is good.]
Charles jotted down the location and thought, 'Figures, a military family.'
For the next day's gig, Charlotte picked out several drones, each worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. She figured Mr. Blake wanted to make a killer ad for Rebecca Residential Community, so he'd definitely want top-notch clarity and resolution.
The next day, when Charles pulled up to the gate, he saw Charlotte surrounded by a ton of gear.
Charles took a look and saw they were all drones, big and small.
Seeing Charles, Charlotte asked seriously, "Think Mr. Blake will be happy with these?"
"Probably," Charles replied casually. He knew Donovan's real reason for coming to Pearl Peak City wasn't just this, so he just shrugged it off.
Charlotte's seriousness made him chuckle a bit.
Charles loaded the gear into his car and hopped in the passenger seat.
"Nervous?" Charles teased Charlotte, seeing her sitting all stiff.
"Yeah, it's my first time teaming up with a big shot like New East Group, so yeah, I'm nervous," Charlotte admitted.
Charles then drove to Donovan's place.
Donovan didn't drive or show any sign of wanting to.
He glanced at the two in the car and said, "Should I drive? You two can chill in the back."
"Sure," Charles answered quickly.
As the partner in this deal, Charlotte had no objections.
After Donovan got in the car, he stayed quiet.
All you could hear were the two in the back chatting.
"I've never been to Pearl Peak City. I heard they're really pushing tourism here now. This road is gorgeous; I've never been to Pearl Peak City," Charlotte said, admiring the view.
"Yeah, you'll have plenty of chances to come to Pearl Peak City in the future," Charles said.
Charlotte took this as a hint from Charles that there'd be lots of future collaborations, and she was thrilled, responding with a happy "yes."
It was the first time Donovan drove so quietly, with only Charles and Charlotte's voices filling the car.
Maybe Charles felt it was weird for his boss to be driving, so he said, "Donovan, why didn't Chloe come?"
"She's got classes today."
"Nothing's up between you two, right?" Charles asked. "I'm kinda worried now."
"What could be up? We're just getting closer."
"Don't say that in front of a single person."
