Chapter 362 She was Extremely Ruthless
In a corner of the airport, a guy in a black suit kept an eye on Chloe. He saw her go through customs and watched the screen showing her plane had taken off.
When he was sure she had left, he made a phone call.
"Boss, Chloe's out of the country. Should we act now?"
"No need. The worst punishment isn't death; it's living with pain. I want her to suffer," the boss replied.
The guy didn't quite get it, so he asked, "So, what should we do?"
"Keep an eye on things. Also, find someone for Donovan."
The man in the suit frowned. "Find someone? Who?"
"Someone who fits Donovan's taste. Someone like Chloe."
"Got it."
After hanging up, he watched the airport a bit longer to confirm Chloe hadn't come back out. Then he left.
Clara exited the airport and called Donovan, who was chatting with Charles in his office.
"How's Chloe doing?" Charles asked.
"She wants to study abroad in Verdania. I said no," Donovan replied, still upset from their fight last night.
"Studying is good for her. With her work ethic, why not let her?" Charles suggested.
"Are you taking her side?"
"Not really, but when I visited, she asked about my education. She seems passionate. If you keep controlling her, she'll rebel," Charles said.
Donovan knew this but couldn't let go. He feared she'd never come back. Plus, Carol probably stirred things up about education, prompting Chloe to ask about going abroad.
As Charles was leaving, Donovan's phone rang. He picked it up and answered.
"When?" Donovan asked after a while, clearly shocked.
Charles sensed something was up and turned back.
Donovan hung up and stood. "Chloe left."
"Left? Where to?" Charles asked, puzzled.
"Abroad. I'm going home." Having said that, Donovan left.
In the car, Donovan thought, 'She asked yesterday, I said no, so she left today to catch me off guard.'
He was furious.
'She probably thinks I won't see her or the child again. We'll see!'
The car sped to the hillside villa.
"Donovan, Chloe left today. She said she was going abroad to study. She mentioned it last night, and you agreed," Clara told him.
"When did she leave?"
"Two hours ago. The plane's probably taken off," Clara said.
Donovan's face stayed grim. He went upstairs. Most of her stuff was gone. The new notebook for her diary only had her name on it.
He had never seen someone so heartless. She left without any attachment to him or Francis.
Now that they were divorced, she just naturally assumed she was free to leave. She was ruthless.
Donovan took out his phone but knew calling was pointless since she had already taken off.
He sank into the sofa and lit a cigarette.
He could go to Verdania and bring her back, but there was no need.
"Maya," he called several times.
Maya hurried up. "Yes, Mr. Blake?"
"Burn everything Chloe left behind. No one mentions her in this house again," Donovan said coldly.
Maya was confused. She wanted to ask why he was so angry. 'Didn't Chloe discuss with you about going abroad, Mr. Blake?'
"Do I need to repeat myself?" Donovan asked when Maya didn't move.
"No, I'll do it now." Maya went to Chloe's closet and took out all her clothes.
She found some clothes Donovan had bought for Chloe and hesitated.
"Mr. Blake, do you want to keep these?" Maya asked.
Donovan didn't even look up. "If it's hers, I don't want it."
Maya thought the clothes were nice and expensive. Burning them seemed wasteful.
But she couldn't defy Donovan's orders.
She took the clothes to the backyard and burned them.
