Chapter 590: I'm Not Married
The more Jane hesitated, the more Maya felt something was wrong.
After speaking, Jane left.
On her way to Chloe's house, Jane spent over five hundred dollars on supplements and had them sent to Jeffery without writing her name or address.
The package was labeled simply as coming from Maple Valley.
The more Maya thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
By the afternoon, Donovan and Francis had returned together because Donovan had taken Francis to the office today.
"Mr. Blake, I have something to tell you," Maya said after much deliberation, feeling that this matter was of great importance.
"Francis, go play upstairs," Donovan said, sending Francis away before sitting on the sofa. "Go ahead."
"Jane came to see me today and brought me some medicine. While I was in the kitchen getting her some water, she received a call from Chloe."
"It seemed to be about a miscarriage, and Jane told her to rest more. Mr. Blake, what should we do?" Maya was taken aback; she didn't even know Chloe was pregnant again.
Donovan's face turned completely angry.
It seemed that the last time Chloe talked to Cynthia, she was definitely to mislead Cynthia.
After all, according to him, he and Cynthia were already married.
There was no way Chloe could tell Cynthia the truth; she had to claim the child was someone else's, when in reality, it was Donovan's.
Now Chloe had aborted the baby!
Donovan grabbed his car keys from the table and walked out.
"Mr. Blake, will you be back for dinner?" Maya called after him.
"I'm not coming back tonight!"
Once in the car, Donovan lit a cigarette, his hand trembling slightly as he did so.
After finishing the cigarette, he calmed himself down.
He drove quickly towards Chloe's house.
Donovan didn't say who he was, but this time, when he knocked on the door, Chloe opened it without asking.
Chloe's face was pale, devoid of any color.
Donovan gritted his teeth tightly.
As Donovan entered the house, he pulled Chloe's hand, leading her into the bedroom.
After closing the door, Donovan glanced at the "Consent for Termination of Pregnancy" on the table.
In the past, Chloe had deceived Donovan, but that time it was fake.
This time, Donovan hoped it was fake too.
"Did you have a miscarriage?" he asked Chloe.
Chloe's eyes widened in shock as she took a couple of steps back. "How do you know that?"
"Did you really miscarry?" he asked through gritted teeth.
Donovan sat on the bed and pulled Chloe into his arms, holding her tightly.
Chloe felt uncomfortable and awkward, trying to break free, saying, "Don't do this. If Cynthia finds out, it won't be good. You're married to Cynthia now. This is blatantly having an affair, and society will condemn it."
"Let them condemn it!" Donovan said angrily. "Tell me, why did you miscarry?"
Chloe looked troubled. "I'm a single woman and a school teacher. How could I raise a child? What would my colleagues think of me? What was I supposed to do if I hadn't miscarried?"
Tears began to fall from Chloe's face like broken beads.
She avoided looking at Donovan, crying sadly and pitifully.
Her crying made Donovan feel restless.
Why did Donovan ever tell Chloe he was married? He regreted it now.
Donovan's Adam's apple bobbed as he tightened his grip on Chloe, gritting his teeth. "I'm not married!"
"Stop lying! There's a marriage certificate. You're still trying to deceive me into being your mistress? I won't do it!" Chloe cried even harder, her tears falling onto his pants as she sobbed.
