Chapter 406 The Unresolved Connection with Pearl Peak City

Unity College in Emerald Isle. Three years have flown by.

Chloe was one of the most hardworking yet unnoticed students in the finance department. She was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. After class, she'd grab a quick bite and head straight to the library. She believed that hard work in studying would always pay off, and her top grades proved her right.

Her phone was filled with old photos of Francis, some sent by Donovan and others she took at home. She hadn't seen Francis since then. When she was busy, she didn't have time to think about anything else. Studying was tough, but the days went by quickly, and her academic success brought her a sense of accomplishment.

As the days stretched on, Chloe's hair grew longer, and her eyesight continued to deteriorate. Her face became even more beautiful, and she usually wore glasses, embodying the pride and elegance of a scholarly woman. In these three years, she cut off contact with almost everyone from her past, changed her phone number, and WhatsApp. She missed Francis a lot but was too disappointed in Donovan and wanted to avoid Pamela's retaliation.

However, she kept in touch with Cynthia on WhatsApp. They often shared their life and study troubles, bonding over their love for reading and common interests.

In her final year of graduation, Chloe received an exciting invitation from a company called Stellar Corp Investments. They offered her a position as an independent financial advisor. The company explained that their recent expansion had created an urgent need for someone with Chloe's expertise.

Chloe had previously interacted with Stellar Corp during a commercial conference in Pearl Peak City. She had been the interpreter for that event, and her translations had impressed Timothy Reed, the president of Stellar Corp. During the post-conference discussions, Chloe also shared her own insights, which caught the attention of several company leaders, who expressed interest in collaborating with her.

Chloe was thrilled, thinking her hard work had paid off.

She was convinced that if she had been just an undergraduate, she would have led a mundane life and wouldn't be in such a position today.

Chloe responded to the offer, explaining that she still had a few months left before graduation and didn't have any specific job requirements yet. She would need to wait until she returned home to make a final decision but promised to contact them if she was interested.

The company’s reply came quickly: [Welcome, Ms. Baker. We look forward to your arrival, whenever it may be.]

Clearly, Stellar Corp valued talent highly.

Chloe shared the news with Cynthia on WhatsApp: [Cynthia, can you check out Stellar Corp for me? I'm probably not going back to Maple Valley.] She figured Pamela would make her leave if she returned, so it was better not to go back. Plus, her perspective had broadened over the past three years.

[What a coincidence! Our school's finance department is hiring professors now. Your qualifications fit. Interested? If so, I'll sign you up.] Cynthia replied.

Chloe replied happily: [Sure, thanks, Cynthia. I'll treat you to a meal.] It seemed she had a lasting connection with Pearl Peak City.

Chloe sent her resume, published papers, and other materials to Cynthia and began preparing for her thesis defense and graduation.
