Chapter 500 Call His Name
Because Chloe was drop-dead gorgeous and super talented, she had a bunch of guys chasing after her. Swamped with schoolwork, she felt overwhelmed by their pursuit.
Derek told her, "You've always been amazing in my eyes. Don't you think so? Those guys aren't annoying; they just have good taste. Don't be so hard on yourself."
Chloe would often sit for hours, thinking about Donovan and Francis. Sometimes, missing Francis made her cry, and Derek would pull her into a comforting hug. "Don't cry. Being apart now means a better reunion later."
Every time she woke up from one of his hypnosis sessions, she felt a bit more healed. During those moments, she'd reach out, and Derek would hold her hand and help her up.
In her dreams, Chloe softly call out, "Derek."
Donovan, hearing her from outside, walked into her room and asked, "What?"
"Derek."
Donovan didn't catch it clearly and thought she was calling him. "I'm here."
This time felt different from all the therapy. Chloe sensed something was off and slowly woke up, drenched in sweat. She looked up and saw Donovan standing by her bed, momentarily confused.
She had just called out for Derek but didn't remember it at all. She was really puzzled. "Haven't you left yet?"
"No. If you want to take them to see the night view tonight, I'll drive you." Having just been called by Chloe in her dream, at least that was what he believed, Donovan's tone was unusually gentle.
He had planned to leave after sitting for a bit, but now he suddenly changed his mind.
Chloe thought about it and realized that having a driver would indeed be more convenient when they saw the night view with Loren around. Most importantly, Donovan had made up his mind. Once he decided something, it was hard to change it.
Chloe nodded slightly and got up to get ready for her class.
In the evening, Chloe messaged Sofia to meet at the central square of Pearl Peak City, where she heard there would be fireworks.
Sofia: [Okay, Loren loves watching fireworks.]
Donovan drove and picked up Sofia and Loren.
On the way, Donovan was pretty quiet, lost in his thoughts. When they arrived, seeing that Donovan didn't get out of the car, Sofia asked, "Mr. Blake, aren't you coming with us to see the fireworks? The fireworks in Pearl Peak City are beautiful."
"I've seen them since I was a kid; I'm not interested," Donovan said, reaching for a cigarette. But since Loren was slow to get out of the car, he paused.
"I forgot Mr. Blake is from Pearl Peak City," Sofia said. "Let's go then."
With that, the three of them left, Chloe and Sofia each holding one of Loren's arms, and Loren looked super happy.
The parking spot wasn't far from the fireworks viewing area, and Donovan's gaze never left Chloe. He saw Chloe take out her phone, head down, fingers flying, probably replying to a message. Her calm, lowered head contrasted sharply with the excited crowd looking up at the fireworks.
At that moment, Chloe was reading Derek's message.
Derek: [Chloe, I'm leaving the day after tomorrow. Are you free tomorrow noon or evening?]
Chloe didn't know when Sofia would leave and felt a bit troubled. But she thought if she took Sofia out for the whole day tomorrow, Loren would be very tired in the evening, and they might not go out for dinner. So she replied to Derek: [Is tomorrow evening okay?]
Derek: [Fusion Feast.]
Chloe: [Okay.]
