Chapter 326 Taking the Opportunity to Mock Her
This time, Donovan took the route that Susan usually drove along the river, where the water shimmered with silvery light sparkling.
Spring had arrived, with red flowers and green grass, full of vitality in Chloe's eyes.
There were more and more people on the road.
"You know this route too?" Chloe asked Donovan.
"I've always known."
Chloe slowly nodded.
In the winter, he took her out, saying that people working in Maple Valley had gone back to their hometowns for the holidays. Now, they had returned.
The streets were bustling with people.
It seemed like the first time Chloe had seen such a beautiful spring.
"Do you want to go to the park?" he asked.
"Sure." Chloe said.
The park was free, but Chloe rarely went in.
When she was in school, she walked around the campus with Andrew. After starting work, she soon got pregnant.
Moreover, few young people went to the park since everyone was busy working hard to earn money.
"To Maple Valley Park?" he asked Chloe from the rearview mirror.
"Is it far?" Chloe asked him.
"Not too far."
"What's special about it?"
"It's the largest park in Maple Valley, very quiet, and it has a small zoo."
"A zoo?" Chloe got interested and asked, "What animals are in the zoo?"
"Alligators, lions, elephants, tigers, many."
"Then let's go." Chloe said.
Since childhood, Amelia rarely took her to the zoo. When she was in school, she and Andrew never thought of going to the zoo.
"First, we'll see the animals, then go boating. How does that sound?"
"Great!" Chloe said, almost clapping her hands in joy.
Donovan saw her expression like a child and couldn't help but smile.
He had never seen someone so easily satisfied, getting so happy just to go to a zoo.
Donovan also realized that they had never actually gone on a date.
The spring scenery was so captivating that Chloe couldn't take it all in.
At the zoo, Donovan parked the car and took Chloe's hand as they entered.
Chloe smelled the flowers in the park, grinning from ear to ear.
Seeing her like this, Donovan found it amusing. A little surprise could make her so happy.
Probably since her mother Amelia and grandma Walter passed away, this was her happiest day.
"I'm going to post on Facebook." Chloe said while taking pictures.
Every photo was stunning, beautiful enough to stand alone without any editing.
Chloe took pictures as she walked.
Donovan led her to the boating area, bought tickets, and they got on the boat.
It was an electric boat, easy to steer without manual effort.
Chloe sat next to Donovan.
Donovan's boating skills were as smooth as his driving.
"How do you know so much about the park?" Chloe turned to ask Donovan, "You're so busy, have you been here before?"
The sunlight on her face made her look incredibly youthful.
"Yes."
"With whom?" Chloe asked.
"Uh, I forgot." Donovan said.
Chloe scoffed. "Who could you forget coming with? You probably just don't want to say."
'He must have come with Paisley.' Chloe thought.
Chloe already knew they used to be in a relationship, so she didn't mind.
She stopped talking to him and focused on taking pictures of the sparkling water.
After forty minutes on the boat, Donovan took Chloe to the zoo.
Since this small zoo was located within the park and occupied a relatively small area, it felt cramped.
Chloe saw an alligator. Just as she was about to approach, the alligator lifted its head, scaring her into quickly pulling back and bumping into Donovan's arms.
Donovan laughed at her for being a scaredy-cat.
"I'm not scared, it just startled me when it suddenly lifted its head." Chloe snarled.
"Excuses." Donovan teased her.
Then, Donovan took Chloe to the snake pit.
Before entering, Chloe didn't know what it was. Once inside, she saw transparent plastic boxes on both sides, each containing a large snake—yellow, patterned, and black. Chloe felt a bit scared.
"Let's go, let's go." Chloe pulled Donovan's hand and walked out quickly, very frightened.
"Why did you bring me to a place like this?" Chloe asked him.
"I thought you were brave, considering you weren't afraid to go to Verdania alone." Donovan said.
Chloe knew he might be taking the opportunity to mock her.
