Chapter 332 In Love
They spent a night entwined in bed, feeling quite sweet.
Around ten the next morning, Maya returned.
"You're back. Watch Chloe for me. I need to go to the office this afternoon," Donovan said to Maya.
"Okay."
Chloe glanced at Donovan, her eyes showing a bit of longing.
"Don't want me to leave?" Donovan walked over to Chloe and pinched her cheek.
"You'll be back this afternoon. What's there to miss?" But honestly, after three days of companionship and sweetness, Chloe did feel a bit reluctant to part.
It felt like they hadn't seen each other in a long time.
"Looks like my absence has helped you two get closer. Why should I even come back?" Maya seemed to mock her own redundancy.
"Maya!" Chloe scolded Maya playfully.
"I've only been gone a few days, and Mrs. Blake has become so much prettier?" Maya said, looking at Chloe's gentle eyes. "It seems like my presence really does interfere with your romance."
"Maya, you just love to tease me!"
Maya, being middle-aged, wasn't as sentimental as young girls. Besides, she seemed to be in a good mood this time.
"How did your son's exam pep rally go?" Chloe changed the subject.
While Maya was talking, Chloe had been sneaking glances at Donovan.
He remained expressionless.
"It went well. The teacher said if my son works hard, he can get into the school he likes. He wants to get into the finance department at Pearl Peak City University. I'm just afraid he won't put in the effort," Maya said.
"Pearl Peak City University? Grandpa's university?" Chloe was surprised.
"Yes. The kid just loves Pearl Peak City. But he's very playful, loves playing basketball. He's over six feet tall and always carrying a basketball around. His dad and I are very upset about it. Don't even mention it."
"Young people are like that," Chloe said with a smile.
"I'm off!" Donovan said and left.
The room quickly returned to its quiet state, with Maya continuing to chatter.
Chloe was a bit distracted, still feeling the loss of Donovan's departure, a bit anxious.
She had never felt this way before.
Before being with Donovan, she had never felt this way.
Even when she was with Andrew, she didn't feel this way.
Maybe her relationship with Donovan was much closer than with Andrew.

Donovan hadn't been to work for three days, and his desk was piled with documents.
He was going through them one by one, signing them.
Charles came in.
"Hey, Mr. Blake is back?" Charles teased Donovan, sitting down on the couch.
"Yeah."
"How's it been with Chloe these past few days?"
"Much better than with you," Donovan kept his head down, looking at the documents and signing them, not saying an extra word.
"Victoria from the audit department has something for Chloe. She asked me to pass the message."
Donovan finally looked up and said, "If she has something for Chloe, can't she contact Chloe directly? Why go through you? Besides," Donovan clasped his hands on the desk and continued, "I remember someone saying the finance department is very busy. You seem quite free."
"Donovan, you're wronging me. Victoria asked me to come. She's afraid if she asks Chloe to come to a meeting, you won't agree, and she's also a bit scared to come to your office, so she asked me. I was just delivering materials to the audit department and happened to come down," Charles explained.
"She wants Chloe to come to the office for a meeting?"
"Yes."
Donovan picked up the phone and called Victoria.
"Would it be okay if she comes tomorrow morning?"
After hanging up with Victoria, Donovan called Chloe.
"Donovan?" Chloe was at home with nothing to do and was happy to see his call.
"Victoria wants you to come to the office tomorrow. She has something for you."
"Sure, should I take your car or Susan's car tomorrow?"
"Get up early and come with me."
"Okay."
Donovan hung up the phone.
"Look at you. When you called Victoria just now, you could have just asked her to call Chloe directly. But you had to call Chloe yourself. Don't think I can't see through you. You're in love, aren't you?" Charles said.
"So what?" Donovan casually lit a cigarette.
"You and Chloe, haven't you dated before? Is this a second romance or just starting? I think you've never been like this before."
"The finance department has a lot of work waiting for you."
"Not being honest, you're really something." With that, Charles stood up and left.
