Chapter 282 If I Remember Correctly, Aren't We Divorced?
Upon returning home, Chloe was very tired and went to her room to rest.
Her phone received a WhatsApp message: [Chloe, Logan's birthday is on January 25th. I promised I'd invite you, so make sure you come.]
Chloe recalled what Sofia had told her and felt awkward.
Chloe: [I don't think I'll go. I'm already pretty far along in my pregnancy.]
Sofia: [If you don't come, he won't celebrate. I found out today is his birthday from my sister. He usually doesn't celebrate, but when I mentioned, 'This year, Chloe and I will celebrate with you,' he asked, 'Really?' and agreed.]
Sofia: [This year, we're going to the countryside, which is good for pregnant women, too.]
Chloe: [So, are you pursuing him, or are you using me to pursue him?]
After a long pause, Sofia finally replied: [I know he will only come out if you're there.]
Chloe: [I’ll ask if Donovan would come with me.]
Sofia: [That’ll be great. We can have a double date. We'll take a walk in the countryside. It's a Saturday.]
Chloe disagreed with Sofia's approach to pursuing someone. Sofia acted very humble around Logan. Sofia used to be so lively and cheerful.
Chloe felt torn; she didn't want to go, but she also wanted to support Sofia. During dinner,
Chloe opened her bedroom door and saw Donovan standing there, about to knock.
"Dinner?" Chloe asked Donovan, looking at him with her puppy eyes.
"Yes," Donovan said, taking Chloe's hand and leading her to the dining table.
Whenever Donovan displayed such unintended tenderness, Chloe found it unbearable. Today, Maya had cooked a ham-flavored pizza.
"Is there something to be happy about today?" Chloe asked Donovan.
"Do we need a reason to eat dinner?"
Chloe believed that only something truly joyful would make him eat ham-flavored pizza, a preference even Maya was unaware of before.
"Do you have plans this Saturday?" Chloe asked him while eating.
"Tell me what you need, and I'll see," Donovan replied calmly.
Since Chloe got pregnant, it was rare for him not to speak harshly.
"Logan's birthday is coming up, and Sofia invited me. They're planning to go to the countryside, but I don't want to go alone. Would you be able to come with me?" Chloe asked.
Donovan didn't even think about it, "Sure."
Chloe had assumed that Mr. Blake from New East Group wouldn't be able to attend Logan's birthday party.
"What do you think we should give Logan as a gift?"
"We?"
"Yes, you and I should give him a gift together."
"If I remember correctly, we're divorced."
Chloe was left speechless by his words and silently continued eating.
"I'll handle it," he added.
"What do you plan to give him?" Chloe was curious, not knowing what Donovan would give.
"You'll find out then."
Chloe didn't ask any more questions. Saturday turned out to be sunny and warm, with temperatures rising to 77 degrees, making it feel hot.
Sofia mentioned that there was no need to purchase a cake for Logan as she had already bought one. She suggested asking Chloe to bring extra food for the picnic they planned in the countryside.
Additionally, Chloe should bring a picnic blanket and folding chairs.
She was confirming the time and location with Sofia, as well as discussing what else they needed to bring.
Chloe rarely ventured outside to play before, let alone to the countryside. As she looked at the lush green leaves outside the car window, Chloe felt thrilled and happy.
It appeared to be her first time going out to play with Donovan. After about an hour, the car pulled up to the location Sofia had selected.
It was a large green meadow, surrounded by mountains in the distance, with a river not far away. The scenery was beautiful.
"Hey Mr. Blake, Chloe, you guys made it? It's just my birthday, and to have Mr. Blake make the effort to come, how can I not feel a bit sheepish?" Logan said to Donovan.
Donovan said, "She asked me to come, and I didn't want to miss it," nodding slightly in Chloe's direction.
"Yes, Mr. Blake has always been good to Chloe." Logan also smiled.
Chloe and Sofia exchanged a glance.
They believed that only the two of them were aware of Logan's feelings for Chloe. Little did they know that Donovan was also privy to this information.
Ironically, Logan himself was clueless about it as he had never disclosed his affections.
Chloe, on the other hand, always dismissed it as mere speculation from Sofia.
