Chapter 305 You Can't Make the Decision as a Mother?

Susan was driving, Victoria sat in the passenger seat, and Chloe and Donovan were in the back.

"There's something I'm not sure if I should say. It might be a bit rude," Victoria said, watching Chloe and Donovan through the rearview mirror, "You two, one is temporarily disabled, and the other is pregnant. Clearly, you can't take care of yourselves."

"We have a housekeeper," Donovan replied.

Chloe was thinking since Matthew had already known the children were his, Donovan would find out sooner or later too. It might be better to tell him sooner.

The car was about to pass the place where they had been stuck in traffic earlier.

"Shall we go buy some things for the babies?" Chloe suddenly said to Donovan.

It was such an ordinary sentence, yet it made Donovan's heart soften, and his Adam's apple bobbed.

"What should we buy?"

"I don't know. We have a boy and a girl. Let's buy them some clothes. They'll be born soon anyway," Chloe said, stroking her belly. Later, when my belly is bigger, I might not have time to go out."

"Together?" Donovan turned his head to look at Chloe's belly.

"Mm."

"Drop Ms. Hawkins off at the company first. No need to wait for us," Donovan told Susan.

After getting out of the car, he and Chloe walked into the "Little Sprout Haven" maternity and baby store.

The store was large and luxurious, with two floors.

Chloe held onto Donovan's uninjured arm as they browsed the store. She realized there were so many things to buy: bottles, nursing pads, baby shampoo, body wash, and diapers.

In fact, her purpose today wasn't to pick things for the kids but to tell Donovan that the babies were his.

Chloe picked up a set of clothes for a little boy and then smiled at Donovan. "Do you think this outfit looks good?"

"If you think it's good, then it's good." Donovan didn't understand how to pick children's clothes.

"Aren't you the father? You should at least give an opinion," Chloe said, slightly annoyed.

"Can't you make the decisionas a mother?"

"I can't. That's why I'm asking you, the father, to give an opinion," Chloe said, beckoning a sales assistant. "Excuse me, do you have a matching outfit for girls?"

"Sorry, ma'am, this outfit is only for boys, not for girls."

"Really?" Chloe felt a bit disappointed and had a slight sense of foreboding. She really wanted a girl. "Which outfits are available for both boys and girls? We have boy-girl twins and want matching ones."

"Alright, ma'am, I'll find them for you." Chloe followed the sales assistant to look.

Donovan took a call and didn't follow them.

After the call, he called the driver to come and pick them up.

After Donovan paid, he carried the things Chloe bought with his left hand and got into the car.

"From now on, our company will handle the NexInnovate Technologies Company project. And they specifically designate you to do it," Donovan said in the car.

"I'll be swamped. Why didn't you refuse? Mr. Wilson will be even more upset. I just took on the New East Group audit." Chloe frowned slightly.

She suspected that these people wanted to squeeze the last bit of value out of her before she gave birth.

"There's no choice. Our investment is in that company, and understanding their finances is crucial. I have confidence in you."

"You have confidence in me? Are you treating me as your confidant?" Chloe was a bit dissatisfied.

"Aren't you?" Donovan asked her.

Chloe nodded thoughtfully, thinking, 'How scheming of him! He thinks more than others indeed.'

"Maybe they're doing it for your sake," Chloe said.

"For my sake?" Donovan's lips curled into a noncommittal smile, "Let's hope so."

The call he had just received was from the general manager of NexInnovate Technologies Company. He said that Logan had recommended New East Group's audit department to them and specifically emphasized "the excellent auditor Chloe."
