Chapter 431 More Favourable
Oscar was also in the finance department office; he was a mentor specializing in investments.
He was Jeffery's mentor.
After exchanging greetings with Oscar, Chloe discussed the project content with Isabel and Saoirse for a while and assigned tasks to each of them.
"Ms. Baker, the basketball finals are in a few days," Isabel said with a mischievous wink at Chloe.
Chloe's age and appearance closely resembled that of the students, which made it difficult for them to perceive her as a teacher.
"Really?" Chloe knew what Isabel meant; it was about her and Jeffery.
"If you want to go, I can help you get tickets," Isabel added.
"Even if I don't go, shouldn't you be focusing on the project first?" Chloe tapped the table to get Isabel's attention.
Isabel lowered her head, feeling ashamed.
After the two left, Chloe also started to pack up her things to leave.
"Chloe, I heard my graduate student Jeffery is pursuing you."
Oscar was in his sixties, and seeing him reminded Chloe of Kenneth, giving her an inexplicable sense of warmth.
"No," Chloe said, a bit embarrassed.
"Actually, I'm quite supportive of him doing this, but I'm afraid it might trouble you. I apologize on his behalf," Oscar said with a kind smile.
Chloe remained silent.
"Let me know if he does anything inappropriate, and I'll correct him," Oscar continued.
Chloe sensed that Oscar took immense pride in having Jeffery as his student.
Indeed, the more knowledgeable a person was, the more unique their thoughts.
Thinking of the cat plushie Jeffery gave her, which was the same as Francis's, Chloe's resentment towards Jeffery lessened a bit.
Besides, Jeffery thought she didn't have a boyfriend, so his pursuit wasn't crazy and didn't cause her any harm. Jeffery was an excellent student in many aspects, and Chloe didn't want her personal matters to affect his future. She felt she was too impulsive when she complained about him to the academic office last time, but fortunately, it didn't cause him significant trouble.
"It's okay, Mr. Reynolds. Thank you," Chloe said.
"So, you're not opposed to Jeffery pursuing you?" Oscar asked Chloe again.
"Mr. Reynolds, I..." Chloe blushed and was speechless.
Oscar laughed heartily. "I didn't expect that even though you're a Ph.D. student, you would still troubled by age and the teacher-student relationship. You should open your heart."
Chloe remained silent.
She felt that Oscar had misunderstood.
She decided that she would personally tell Jeffery about her past someday, so he would give up.
"Mr. Reynolds, were you looking for me?" Jeffery came in while Chloe and Oscar were talking.
After entering, he glanced at Chloe.
Chloe quickly packed up her things and left.
"I've been waiting for you all morning. Our project has been approved. Take a look and see which part you want to start with," Oscar said to Jeffery.
After Chloe left the office, Oscar said to Jeffery, "I just asked Ms. Baker, and she doesn't seem to mind you pursuing her that much. It looks like you need to keep trying."
"Okay," Jeffery said with a faint smile.
Oscar had a charming smile.
"By the way, didn't you say you wanted to find an internship related to your major? I asked around, and the investment president of Stellar Corp is my classmate. He agreed to let you intern there, but since you're only a first-year graduate student, you can only be an assistant. Give it a try first." Oscar patted Jeffery on the shoulder.
"Okay. Thank you, Mr. Reynolds."
"Chloe is an independent director there, so it'll be more favourable for you," Oscar added with a smile.
Jeffery said, "Mr. Reynolds, you really think ahead."
Oscar didn't say anything and laughed heartily.
