Chapter 520 Chloe Showed Her Feelings for Donovan
Chloe had a feeling Donovan's words were aimed at Cynthia, wondering if he thought Cynthia had swiped her project.
After dinner, Donovan headed back to Kenneth's place, where Francis was still hanging out.
Chloe went back to Willow Grove Estates. Just as she was about to unlock the door, her phone buzzed. It was Jane, calling to chat.
"Hey Chloe, are you busy?" Jane asked.
Honestly, Chloe felt a bit on edge hearing Jane's question. She was worried Jane might spill the beans about who was digging into her blood type, but Jane kept the conversation light.
"I'm still at school, working on my thesis. Been here all day," Chloe replied.
"I'm on vacation. If I go back to my mom's, she'll just nag me about finding a boyfriend. Can I come visit you? I've been really looking forward to it," Jane said.
"Sure, come on over," Chloe said. "My place is small, just a one-bedroom with one bed. When you come, we can share the bed. Sofia has Loren with her, so I had them stay at a hotel, but you don't need to spend that money."
Chloe thought, 'This is perfect. Just when I'm worried Donovan might stay over, Jane's coming, which means Donovan probably won't.'
"How about I come tomorrow?" Jane asked.
"Sure, let me know when you get here, and I'll pick you up at the station," Chloe said.
After that, since neither of them had much else to do, Chloe told Jane about Jeffery joining the military and how she got mad at Donovan for no clear reason. She couldn't figure out why or what she felt for Donovan.
Jane listened quietly, then said, "Did Jeffery show any special feelings for you, and Donovan found out?"
Chloe was silent for a long time, not expecting Jane to be so sharp, breaking down her relationship with Jeffery in just one sentence.
"Yeah, Jeffery pursued me and confessed during a basketball game, and Donovan saw it," Chloe said.
"Now it makes sense. You resent Donovan for siding with Jeffery. You think he doesn't love you," Jane said.
"You're talking nonsense!" Chloe couldn't help but feel a bit angry.
"You actually have strong feelings for Donovan; you just don't realize it."
Chloe was about to hang up the phone.
"Are you still going to let me come over? With your attitude, I dare not to," Jane said.
"Come, and when you do, I'll deal with you then," Chloe said.
"Alright, I'll see you soon." Jane said with a cheerful tone before quickly hanging up.
Chloe realized her face was burning, but thinking about Jane coming over made her happy. She then continued working on her project and writing her thesis.
When Cynthia got home, she feltmore and more uneasy about what Donovan had said.
Jake was acting up, she slapped him twice, irritated.
Cynthia adopted him just to have a connection with Donovan. To her, Jake was just a tool. Now that she couldn't find a way to keep interacting with Donovan, she naturally took her frustration out on Jake.
Jake started crying loudly.
Cynthia grew annoyed just by seeing him, as he reminded her of his biological mom, Janet.
'I'm done with this. He needs to go. If he grows up, he might end up like his homicidal mom.' Cynthia thought.
Just then, Cynthia got a mass message on WhatsApp from the school system:
[Tomorrow at 2 PM, there will be a school-wide assembly in the auditorium to confer the title of Honorary Professor to psychologist Derek.]
Cynthia didn't pay much attention to it.
Chloe also got the message.
Dear Valued Readers,
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering support and the joy you've shown for my ongoing serial novel. Your engagement with the story has been nothing short of inspiring.
After much reflection, I've made the decision to transition from daily updates of three chapters to weekly updates with the same volume. Here's why:
Enhancing the Narrative: I believe that by giving myself more time between updates, I can weave a richer tapestry of events, characters, and emotions. This will not only improve the quality of each chapter but also ensure that the story develops in a way that truly captivates.
Personal Well-being: Writing is my passion, but it also requires a sustainable approach. To keep the story flowing for the long term, I need to take care of my health and maintain a balance between my creative work and personal life. This adjustment will allow me to do that.
Creative Space: The new schedule will provide me with the space to explore different angles and ideas, ensuring that each chapter adds value to the overall narrative arc.
I understand that this change might come as a surprise and might not be welcomed by all. For any inconvenience or disappointment this causes, I sincerely apologize. Please know that this decision was made with the story's best interest at heart, and I am committed to delivering content that will make each wait worthwhile.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and for joining me on this storytelling adventure. I look forward to sharing more with you soon!
With gratitude
Doris
