Chapter 270 Who Are You Talking About?
"Chloe, I need to tell you something. Logan has someone he likes."
Before the dishes were served, Sofia, looking somewhat dejected, said to Chloe, "Actually, I knew he had someone he liked, but I just didn't want to believe it. But I had a feeling."
"Did you catch them in the act?" Chloe instinctively asked.
"Chloe, I'm really hurt!" Sofia said, "Can you be serious for once? If I had caught them in the act, I would have jumped off a building by now."
"Oh." Chloe then took on a more serious tone, "So nothing actually happened? Everyone has a first love. I still have mine. If it hadn't been for Andrew's accident, we would have been married by now, maybe even with two kids. Life is full of unexpected turns."
These words reached Donovan's ears.
But Paisley didn't hear them; her mind was focused on the "Barbara" that Donovan was interested in.
Donovan looked down and smiled at Paisley, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Yes, I care about her. Let's talk about her," Donovan said.
"Don't get me started. Barbara is restless and ambitious but lacks the ability. Recently, I was shooting a TV series and needed a maid role, so I had no choice but to let her take the part. She kept stealing my scenes and then cozied up to the producers. Now, several producers have called her to play the villainess. With her looks, she can only play negative roles. I don't know where she gets her confidence!" Paisley said angrily.
"So, you two have a falling out?" Donovan asked her.
He had a smile on his face, but the distance in his expression made Paisley uneasy.
"Yes."
Outside.
Sofia kept her head down. "I just found out today. My mom asked me to bring some food to my sister. When I went to deliver it, Logan's phone was in the restaurant table. I nosily picked it up. His phone didn't have a password. I found a contact named 'Sweetheart' in his phone."
"So what?" Chloe asked, looking puzzled.
Sofia couldn't get the rest of the words out, her face turning red. "Give me a bottle of wine!"
Seeing Sofia in a bad mood, Chloe ordered a bottle of red wine for her.
"Whiskey!" Sofia was desperate. "The strongest one."
"Are you crazy?"
"Don't mind me."
Chloe had no choice but to order it for her.
Sofia poured the whiskey and drank glass after glass, changing the subject, "Chloe, I told everyone in the company that you're going to work at New East Group!"
"I definitely won’t go. You can't control me with public opinion," Chloe said. Last time, Donovan called Mr. Winslow and told her to start working in January, but that was exactly when she was going to study abroad in Verdania. She definitely wouldn't go.
She would rise from where she had fallen.
Since everyone was talking about her education, she was determined to solve that problem.
"You're going whether you want to or not!" Sofia drank the strong liquor, feeling a burning sensation in her stomach.
"I'm absolutely not going! I'm going to study abroad," Chloe had no choice but to tell the truth, "To be honest, I've already received an offer from Suncrest University's graduate school. I emailed them to send the paper offer to my advisor. Classes start in January. So, I definitely can't work at New East Group."
"You haven't even considered the child you’re carrying," Sofia looked up, her eyes vacant as she stared at Chloe, "How can you be so heartless, leaving without considering our feelings? If you leave, I'll be lonely; Mr. Blake will never smile, and Logan is even more heartbroken."
Chloe didn't quite understand. She frowned slightly and asked Sofia, "Who are you talking about?"
