Chapter 167 If You Like Him, Go Live With Him
Sitting in the living room were the top executives of New East International.
Every New Year's Day, the executives would come to pay their respects to Donovan, as is customary.
Chloe didn't know about it as it was her New Year's celebration at the Blake mansion. Donovan didn't tell her either.
She hadn't combed her hair, hadn't washed her face, and had a bit of a lazy and charming air about her, saying "Mr. Edwards, Mr. James, Mr. Wilson, Mario, hello..." with a grin.
All of them were business leaders.
Seeing everyone staring at her, Chloe awkwardly said, "I... Ineed to pick up a delivery."
After speaking, she slipped out as if avoiding the plague, walked to the front door of the living room, and quickly turned the trash bag in front of her.
It was so embarrassing, she reckoned they all saw it.
It was a transparent plastic trash bag. Chloe wasn't even wearing a down jacket, and she shivered as she ran to the front door, where the delivery man was waiting for her.
She ran to the side first and threw the trash bag into the big trash can.
"Miss Chloe, right?" the delivery guy asked Chloe.
"Yes."
"Check it, then sign here."
In front of Chloe was a very large delivery box, and the delivery note read: dried flower products.
She felt Donovan would never send her something like this because he wasn't a romantic person.
He had never sent her anything like this before.
"Who sent this to me?" Chloe asked.
"Don't know, it's anonymous. But the shipping address is Sunshine Bay City."
The delivery guy took out the dried flowers and a very large teddy bear made of roses. It was very cute.
"There's no damage, miss."
Chloe signed.
Suddenly, she remembered what Brayden had said to her on New Year's Day.
He said he wanted to give something to Chloe.
Her heart pounded. On New Year's Day, was he playing such a joke on her?
In the living room, with all the executives sitting there, if Donovan, who was so petty, made her uncomfortable, wouldn't it be a problem?
Chloe looked at the delivery note. Besides the shipping address being Sunshine Bay City, it was indeed anonymous.
She could pretend not to know it was from Brayden and pretend it was from Donovan.
"Miss Chloe, where should I put it?" the delivery guy asked.
"Put it in the living room, thank you."
Chloe followed the delivery guy into the living room.
The delivery guy placed the flowers on the floor next to the TV.
"Thank you, Donovan, I love it." Chloe's eyes lit up with joy.
Donovan stared at the flowers, his eyes seeming to shoot fire.
This bouquet of flowers was definitely not from him.
A gift like this could only be from a man.
He had a pretty good idea of which man it was.
But with the executives around, although his eyes were cold, he still had a smile on his face. "As long as you like it!"
He would settle the score after the executives left!
"Thank you," Chloe said to Donovan.
She nodded to the executives again, indicating that she had just touched the delivery and needed to go upstairs to wash her hands.
After all, she couldn't join in the executives' conversation.
"How will you thank me?" Donovan asked her.
Chloe hesitated for a moment, "Well... I also want to give you a surprise, don't ask now."
After speaking, Chloe went upstairs.
"Donovan, I saw that trash bag. If you keep talking like that, you won't have children for ten years." Mario shrugged. "Chloe is determined to build her career."
Charles also smiled, "Donovan, we all saw it, your sexual prowess is impressive."
The vulgar words of a group of men made the lady Winslow blush.
"I see Chloe wearing red, is this her lucky year?" Winslow asked Donovan.
"Yes, she's twenty-four," Donovan replied.
His mind was still on who sent her that bear.
"No wonder." Winslow smiled knowingly.
The executives didn't have lunch at Donovan's house. At noon, they all dispersed.
Donovan went upstairs.
Chloe was lying on the bed, idly holding her phone.
"Sending a WhatsApp?" Donovan asked with a slight frown.
"No, I'm ordering something for you. Courtesy demands reciprocity."
Today, Chloe would swear that the bouquet of flowers was from Donovan. She would say she hadn't thought of anyone else, let alone expected anyone else.
"Chloe, don't play tricks with me!" Donovan pressed down on Chloe, his eyes fixed on her.
"What do you mean? Isn't it from you? Besides you, I can't think of anyone else!" Chloe's face paled a bit, feeling guilty.
"If you like him, go live with him! I won't stop you," Donovan said hoarsely.
"What do you mean? You know very well that Grandpa's health won't allow it."
"If it was possible, would you really go live with him?" Donovan held Chloe's chin.
"I..." Chloe hadn't mean that at all.
Hearing this, she felt as if her heart had been blocked, thinking: 'Who does he think he is? He was so intimate with Paisley last night. It's duplicitous.'
She was moved by his appearance yesterday, seeming like a savior.
Now his true colors were revealed. He was vengeful and petty.
So she didn't explain, nor did she console him!
"Chloe, it's time for dinner," Amelia called Chloe downstairs.
"My mom is calling for me." With that, Chloe pushed Donovan away and went downstairs.
