Chapter 251 Prenatal Checkup
After getting in the car, Chloe let out a long sigh, finally relaxing. With two projects secured, she would be busy for a while before the end of the year.
"Why don't you invite me to KTV since you got this deal?" Donovan suddenly asked.
Chloe knew he was mocking her, so she turned her head to the window. "They are different!"
"So you used sex as reward when it came to me?" he asked again.
Donovan sat in the front seat, Chloe in the back, and Donovan's gaze fell on Chloe from the rearview mirror.
Hearing what he said, Chloe blushed a little.
"But I stood you up," Chloe replied.
"You stood me up, so you found someone else to sleep with me," Donovan said.
"But you seemed quite satisfied, as you still gave me the projects." Chloe showed some disdain towards Donovan.
"Yes. I'm not you. Our marriage hasn't ended, and you've been pregnant with someone else's babies," Donovan said.
"Since it's not your kids, why did you help me get the projects? I know you stayed there on purpose just now. I used your influence. I know they just feared you!" Chloe tried to hold back her anger so as not to lose her temper.
"I'm just covering for you! So the whole world won't know my wife is cheating on me!" Donovan's voice was low and hoarse.
Chloe faced the window, her chest heaving.
Donovan's words were too harsh, and she couldn't bear it.
When the car arrived at the residential area, Chloe didn't say a word and went upstairs as soon as she got off.
Donovan carried the documents alone, walking behind her.
Chloe returned to her room and sat at the desk, feeling upset.
Donovan entered her room with the documents.
As soon as he came in, Chloe turned her head away.
Donovan remained silent, put down the things, and left.
That night, Donovan didn't stay at home. Only Chloe and Maya had dinner together.
"He must bebe messing around!" Chloe huffed.
"No. He most likely went to the hillside villa to look after Little Chloe," Maya said.
"Who?" Chloe frowned.
Only then did Maya realize she was too casual in her speech. "It's the black cat called Little Chloe. Mr. Blake is used to calling it that, and so am I. He probably went to buy cat food for Little Chloe. With so many houses, he can live anywhere."
Chloe thought, 'Now, it's finally not me being kicked out after an argument.'
After dinner, Brayden sent Chloe a message on WhatsApp: [How have these days been? ]
Chloe: [I have got two projects. One is Green Earth Solutions Company, and the other is Elevate Structures Group. However, getting business is the hardest, but doing accounts is easy for me.]
Brayden gave Chloe a thumbs-up.
Brayden: [Don't tire yourself out with the accounts. Take it easy these days.]
Chloe: [Okay. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow for a prenatal checkup. My classmate Jane will do it for me, so I don't have to wait in line, which is relaxing.]
Brayden: [What time tomorrow?]
Chloe: [Ten o'clock. Sofia will keep me company.]
After returning to the country, Chloe had several prenatal checkups, all at Jane's hospital, and Sofia accompanied her each time.
Shortly after, Sofia sent Chloe a message on WhatsApp: [Is it tomorrow that Jane mentioned for the prenatal checkup? I'll go with you.]
Chloe: [Yes, ten o'clock.]
Chloe sent Sofia the address of the residential area where she currently lived.
Then, She told Maya that she would go for a prenatal checkup tomorrow, with her classmate Sofia accompanying her. So, she asked Maya to take a day off.
After returning to her room, Chloe messaged Susan on WhatsApp: [I'm going for a prenatal checkup at ten tomorrow. Can you accompany me?]
Susan: [Sure.]
The next day, Sofia clocked out at New East Group, ready to leave.
She was now a qualified senior employee in the public relations department. Her writing was excellent, and the leaders highly appreciated her, so skipping half a day of work was not a big deal.
However, as soon as she stepped out of the company lobby, she saw Donovan coming to work.
"Where are you going?" Donovan asked Sofia with a frown.
Sofia thought it wouldn't be good to be caught leaving during work hours by the boss.
"Chloe has a prenatal checkup today, so I'm going to accompany her." The reason related to Chloe had always been effective.
As expected, Donovan's face darkened. He didn't say anything and walked past expressionlessly.
Since Chloe got pregnant, he had never accompanied her for a prenatal checkup.
There was no other reason. It was just because it wasn't his babies.
