Chloe met Donovan's concerned yet teasing gaze. "I didn't seek you out!" she retorted. Donovan's accurate observation left Chloe both annoyed and embarrassed. How did he know she was looking for him, apart from Sofia? She turned her head away, her body immobilized due to treatment.

"Still hurting?" Donovan's hand grazed the bandage on Chloe's head. Only then did she feel the throbbing pain at the back of her head and the gnawing hunger in her stomach.

"Hungry?" Donovan inquired. Chloe nodded. "What would you like to eat?"

Chloe's gaze inadvertently met Donovan's deep, unreadable eyes. Memories of high school flooded her mind, especially the time she ended up in the hospital due to low blood sugar from an all-nighter. Her father had made her his special mushroom cheese soup, a dish she cherished.

"Mushroom cheese soup," Chloe's voice softened.

Donovan called Maya Hall. "Chloe's hungry. Make some mushroom cheese soup and bring it over."

After the call, Chloe suggested, "You and Maya Hall can go home together later. I'll be fine on my own."

"Why are you showing off?" Donovan teased, flicking the treatment medicine. It seemed he had decided to stay.

Maya Hall arrived with a sumptuous meal and the requested soup. While eating, Chloe video-called her grandfather.

"Chloe, you risked your life to save Donovan. Are you that determined?" her grandfather asked, his heart aching for her.

"Not really, Grandpa," Chloe wanted to explain, not wanting to be seen as overly devoted, especially after their argument. But she also didn't want to hide their affection. So, Chloe replied, "I didn't think much at the time."

Her grandfather smiled, "Tell Maya Hall what you want to eat. She'll make it for you every day. Don't rush to work." Chloe nodded.

Donovan asked Maya Hall to head back first; he would stay there for the night. After their recent argument, there was still some awkwardness between them.

The night felt uneasy. At 1 a.m., Donovan fell asleep on the accompanying bed. Chloe, having slept all day, was wide awake, with only the bedside lamp illuminating the room. Chloe couldn't lie still in bed; she needed to use the bathroom. Despite the inconvenience due to her treatment, she didn't want to bother Donovan. Chloe struggled to get out of bed and carefully reached for her medication.

"What are you doing?" Donovan's voice startled her. He was already awake and effortlessly retrieved the medication.

"I was just..." Chloe hesitated.

"Going to the bathroom?" he asked.

Chloe's face turned crimson. Despite their countless days together, she had never felt so embarrassed. She never imagined that using the bathroom would become a problem one day. "Yes," Chloe admitted, her face flushed. Even a delicate girl had to face the indecency of bodily functions.

"Come on," Donovan said, holding the medication, and followed Chloe into the bathroom.

As Chloe undid her pants, her face turned even redder. "Turn around," she demanded.

"I've seen every part of you," Donovan replied, his hand tugging at Chloe's waistband to help her. His action reminded Chloe of their rough and brutal lovemaking that left her with deep psychological scars.

"Get out of the way!" Chloe's resentful eyes locked onto him, still haunted by her past grievances. Chloe stood there, motionless, seemingly forgetting about her need to use the toilet, her gaze stubbornly fixed on Donovan.

"Are you still blaming me?" Donovan asked her.
