Chapter 549 Hugged, Kissed
Jane kept staring at Maya's room, waiting for Maya to come out.
It wasn't long before Maya emerged wearing the dress Jane had bought for her.
Before Maya could say anything, Jane interrupted, "It's too big, but that's fine, I'll exchange it for you."
Saying this, Jane went over to help Maya adjust the dress.
Meanwhile, Jane gave Chloe a knowing look.
Donovan understood very well why Chloe suddenly came back this time; it was probably to be a doormat for Jane. As for what Chloe missed Francis and Donovan, it was just a casual brush-off.
Sofia, Jane, and Chloe met at a foreign restaurant and ordered some very spicy dishes. Despite being pregnant, Sofia still craved the thrill of spicy food.
Jane also ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate the connection with her future mother-in-law.
Jane and Chloe drank a lot. Chloe hadn't had such a good time in years. During her three years in Emerald Isle, Chloe felt like she was in prison. Besides depression, Chloe seemed to have developed paranoia, constantly fearing that Pamela was following her.
But now, Chloe knew her background. If Pamela made any moves again, Chloe could counterattack specifically, unlike before when she knew nothing about Pamela.
Just as the three were having a great time, Chloe's phone rang. It was an unknown number.
Chloe, a bit tipsy, answered the call. It was Derek.
"Chloe." came the voice from the other end.
"Yeah." Chloe said.
"Have you been drinking?" Derek asked.
"Yeah, I'm back in Maple Valley, meeting old friends, feeling pretty good." Chloe touched her head, feeling a bit lost and fuzzy due to the alcohol.
"You were depressed for three years in Emerald Isle. I always hoped to see you laugh like this, but it never happened. Knowing that you're drinking makes me happy." Derek said.
Chloe acted slowly, and she just giggled foolishly without saying anything.
"Never mind. I'll call you another day. You probably can't say much right now, can you? Do you have friends with you?" Derek asked again.
"Yeah, two good friends from school." Chloe replied.
"Give the phone to one of your friends. I want to say something to them." Derek said.
Chloe's hand seemed to move on its own, handing the phone to Sofia, the only one who hadn't been drinking.
"Hello, Chloe's drunk. Could you please take her home?" Derek said.
"Sure, no problem." Sofia replied.
"Thank you." Derek said.
After hanging up, Sofia asked Chloe, "Chloe, where did you pick up this handsome guy? I didn't know you had this skill back in the day, with just one ex-boyfriend."
"Spill it." Jane also patted Chloe on the shoulder, also drunk. "Where did you pick him up?"
"When I was studying in Emerald Isle, I was in a really bad mood. Every day when I woke up, I felt like I was heading towards death, and the pressure was immense. Pamela!" Chloe suddenly slapped the table, accusing, "Bastard! She deserves to die. Pamela harmed my mom. Derek was my therapist. I felt an inexplicable closeness to Derek."
"Alright, just tell us, what did you do?" Jane was straightforward.
"We have hugged and kissed." Chloe said.
"Didn't sleep together?" Jane asked.
"No, Derek never asked for that. He's very gentlemanly." Chloe was practically sliding under the table.
"What a waste. You studied there for three years, didn't sleep with a local, and not even a foreigner. What a waste of your beauty." Jane patted Chloe, saying with infinite disappointment, "In three years, you should have slept with at least ten people. You're divorced, so it's not cheating."
"Who says it's not." Chloe said.
"But compared to Mr. Blake, your behavior isn't good, is it?" Jane laughed softly.
Chloe also laughed. "Donovan has to set an example for Francis."
