Chapter 657 His Shrewdness
Lately, the pre-sale buzz around Rebecca Residential Community has been huge, and of course, Charles had to run everything by Donovan.
Donovan was lounging on his couch, giving Charles a knowing smile.
"So, what does your father-in-law think of you?" Donovan asked.
"Don't call him that yet. It's not official."
Donovan's eyes lit up. "What does Mr. Rose think of you, then?"
"He thinks I'm great. Everyone does."
"Is he interested in buying a house?"
"He said he'd think about it. A guy like him won't show his cards easily."
"Let the sales team know that Orion's interested in our houses. They should drop hints to potential buyers."
Charles paused and then said, "Donovan, there's no way you won't get rich."
Just then, Chloe came down the stairs.
"What are you guys talking about?" she asked, catching bits about the Rebecca Residential Community sales.
"I was just saying Donovan's too sharp. I'm calling the sales department now."
"I'll call HR first," Donovan said.
Chloe sat down on the couch, surprised and curious about why Donovan was calling HR.
"Nicole, get Charles's onboarding paperwork ready. Promote him to Vice President and Acting CFO. Also, post a job listing for a new CFO." Donovan hung up the phone.
Charles was stunned. "Donovan..."
"If you're getting married, you need a higher status. Plus, securing Orion is your win too," Donovan said. "You should've been promoted ages ago."
Charles grabbed Donovan's hand, almost tearing up.
Chloe watched Donovan, thinking, 'He's really sharp. By giving Charles a little boost, he's ensuring Charles's loyalty. And the timing of the promotion is perfect.'
Chloe used to think Donovan was out of reach, and like many, she wondered how he made so much money. Now she got it. Behind the scenes, he was always planning meticulously. With Cynthia detained and no immediate threats, he seized the chance to push Rebecca Residential Community sales. People say scholars can make money, but as a scholar herself, Chloe hadn't made any. Meanwhile, Donovan was raking it in without stopping his scholarly pursuits.
It all depended on who wielded the knowledge.
Donovan was just too sharp!
Noticing Chloe staring, Donovan turned slightly. "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing, just thinking you're a really good boss," Chloe said.
Maybe Charles didn't fully realize it, or maybe he did but was still moved. Who wouldn't be in his shoes?
At the sales office.
The salesperson told potential buyers, "Leaders from Maple Valley's military are eyeing two houses here and are about to close the deal. They were just asking the CFO for materials a few days ago."
Hearing this, the potential buyers thought, 'If military leaders are buying here, we should too.' Suddenly, the houses sold out quickly and became super popular.
And Charles's pitch to Orion was that the houses were almost gone!
Orion got even more anxious.
