Chapter 382 He has many ways to torment people

Thinking about Andrew now, Chloe didn't feel sad anymore. Maybe her feelings had shifted to Donovan. Talking about people from the past didn't bother her anymore.

"Yeah, people who teach in the boonies have to deal with all kinds of stuff," Cynthia said, looking down, lost in thought. "Alright, I won't bug you anymore. I really can't help with this. Maybe think of another way."

Chloe gave a bitter smile. 'What other way is there?' Donovan knew she didn't have a photo of him and was making things tough on purpose. She felt stuck.

Chloe thought visiting Francis would be easy, but now, even seeing a photo of him was a challenge. She felt really anxious.

She sent a WhatsApp message to Maya: [Maya, I can't find a photo of him here, but I really want to see Francis. What should I do? How about a video call so I can see him?]

[Maya, I'm mainly in charge of the kitchen, and Helen takes care of Francis all day. If I call you, she'll find out and tell Mr. Blake. Plus, his parents are home. It's not realistic. Chloe, Mr. Blake wants you to come back. Don't you get it? Why are you so stubborn?]

Chloe didn't want it this way either, but she had her reasons. She thought, 'If Donovan really won't let me see Francis, I'll go back and tell him about the threats I faced. Phone calls aren't safe.'

Maya was also anxious. She understood a mother's heart and even thought about secretly taking a photo of Donovan for Chloe. But she knew Donovan was sharp, and it could backfire.

When Donovan got home, he sat on the couch. Maya said, "Mr. Blake, Chloe doesn't have a photo of you. Is there another way for her to see Francis? After all, he's her child."

"Hmm, she doesn't have a single one?" Donovan asked indifferently.

"If it involved Francis, she would've given it to you already."

Donovan smirked slightly. She was indeed ruthless, not even having a single photo of him.

"In that case, there's nothing I can do," Donovan said, heading up the stairs.

"Mr. Blake," Maya called out just as he reached the stairs.

"What?" Donovan turned back.

"Can you give Chloe another option? She's a mother. I understand her," Maya said, feeling both anger and pity for Chloe.

Donovan squinted slightly. "Alright, even if she doesn't have a photo of me, she must have photos of herself, right? She can exchange ten of her photos for one of Francis's."

"That's easy," Maya said, thrilled. She could take the photos right away.

"Don't get too excited," Donovan said, dampening her enthusiasm. "They have to be nude photos, with her face visible."

With that, Donovan went upstairs. Maya watched him go, stunned. She had to admit that Donovan was quite the tormentor.

Not sure how to break the news to Chloe, she eventually sent a WhatsApp message: [Chloe, I told him you don't have his photo. He came up with another way.]

[What way?] Chloe asked anxiously.

[He said you can provide your photos, but it has to be ten of your photos for one of Francis's. And they have to be nude photos, with your face visible.]

Chloe was silent. Donovan really knew how to torment people. Taking nude photos of herself and sending them to him was a huge humiliation. Plus, sending them through the phone wasn't safe. What if those men in black suits saw them?

Chloe decided that taking nude photos was something she absolutely couldn't do. She wanted to go back and explain to Donovan that her decision to study abroad wasn't out of spite.

But just as Chloe was preparing to buy toys for Francis and return to Maple Valley, the doorbell rang. It was work hours, and Wade wasn't home.

When Chloe opened the door, she was instantly horrified! It was the long-missed man in the black suit.

"It's been a while, Ms. Baker," the man said. "Aren't you going to invite me in?"

"Come in," Chloe said, her spine tingling. She had thought they had stopped watching her. But not only were they still vigilant, they even knew where she lived. It was clear her every move was being monitored. Terrifying.

After entering the living room, the man in the black suit immediately saw the toys on the couch meant for Francis.

"Ms. Baker, you bought toys for Francis? That doesn't match what you said before," the man said, his cold eyes fixed on Chloe. "You said you didn't like Francis."

"I bought them for someone else's child. I wasn't going back. Why would I buy these?" Chloe's face turned pale.

"You better be honest with me! If you go back, you know what will happen. I don't need to warn you. What happened to Sarah could happen to Donovan again. It's not surprising. You can tell him, but he won't be able to prevent it," the man said.

"I understand!" Chloe said, sitting on the couch, her face ashen.

Just as Chloe was preparing to go back and explain things to Donovan, the man in the black suit successfully dissuaded her.
