Chapter 193 Sick of Being Envious
As Chloe slept, she could hear Donovan tossing and turning, which made her unable to sleep soundly.
However, this was a punishment imposed by his grandfather.
At first, Donovan hesitated, but later on, he completely disregarded his concerns and just pinned her down on the bed.
"Don't you miss me at all?" he fiercely asked.
In the darkness, his hoarse voice echoed through the air.
"I see you every day. Of course, I don't miss you," Chloe retorted.
"You should know that you miss me." After saying that, Donovan kissed Chloe on the lips.
Chloe felt like Donovan was like a hungry wolf, determined to chew her up before letting her go.
The next day, after she was done writing in her diary, Chloe drew a five-pointed star at the end of her entry before adding the following line.
[Donovan is a man who doesn't keep his word. He doesn't even obey Grandpa!]
"Chloe! Chloe, you evil woman!" There was a commotion at the door.
Chloe quickly closed her diary as Ellie rushed over.
Ellie harbored a great hatred for Chloe.
However, not everyone could walk into the office of the audit department, so a security guard had followed Ellie to try to drag her away.
"You! Sure, you got the Aurora Group's order, yet you just have to flaunt it in front of him, distracting him for days. Orders gotten through Donovan are not considered part of your hard work!" Ellie scolded.
How Chloe wished she could say what was on her mind. 'I just wanted some documents! How did that even offend you?'
"There is protocol for everything. If you are here at New East Group's audit department to shout about that man's incompetence, well, that is not Chloe's fault," Victoria sharply said.
Chloe felt that something was off about Ellie's behavior this time.
"I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to this evil woman! I see. You're an evil woman too!" Ellie glared with rage blazing in her eyes.
At that moment, another person walked out of the elevator. It was Brayden.
He knew Ellie was causing trouble for Chloe and was here to pull her away.
"Don't touch me!" Ellie was now shouting at everyone she saw. "You rejected me back then because of her, even after you were drugged. You kept chanting her name and tried to remain pure for her. Also, the Aurora Group project was almost finalized, yet she snatched it away. You wouldn't even say a word! You must really like her!"
When Chloe heard Ellie say the words "remaining pure", she glanced at Brayden who looked back at her.
Then, Chloe lowered her head with a blush on her face.
Then, she heard the sound of a slap and looked up in shock.
Brayden had slapped Ellie.
It was quite a coincidence that yesterday, Donovan slapped Paisley for Chloe. Now, Brayden also slapped Ellie for Chloe.
"You actually hit me for her! You slapped for a married woman!" Ellie went completely crazy and grabbed Brayden's collar.
"Let's go." Brayden dragged Ellie away.
After a while, Brayden sent a WhatsApp message to Chloe.
Brayden: [I'm sorry.]
Chloe did not reply.
Her mind was a mess, and she did not mention the incident in her diary either. In the afternoon, she went to Donovan's office for tutoring.
Charles was not there.
Donovan was playing indoor golf and looked very handsome as he swung the golf club.
He scored a hole in one.
Chloe usually saw him read and never knew he was into sports as well, let alone know about how good he was at golf.
Donovan remained calm the entire time.
His calmness, however, made Chloe uneasy.
"Charles is not here." Chloe was very nervous. As she said that, she moved to place her diary on Donovan's desk.
He did not ask about Brayden's presence at the audit department.
Chloe knew that her colleagues in the audit department were very tight-lipped, so Donovan probably had not heard of the incident yet.
Perhaps he gotten tired of feeling envious of Brayden.
"I have something to do at a lower floor. You'll be studying on your own today." After saying that, Donovan left.
Chloe was left alone in his office, but she did not feel like reading.
The phone rang, and Chloe answered it. It was a delivery.
