Chapter 348 You're Not Allowed to Take Over Other People's Orders
At the New East Group Mall.
"Feels like it's been ages since our last shopping trip," Chloe said to Ann.
Ann linked arms with Chloe. "Don't say that. This mall is your husband's. If you want to shop, who's gonna stop you?"
Chloe squinted. Lately, too much had happened, making it hard for others to get her. Plus, Ann was single and couldn't really relate to her in-law drama, so she focused on which clothes looked good instead.
"Let me tell you, Carol is shameless. Her company, Summit Financial Solutions, went under, and now she wants to partner with us. She even talked to Brayden yesterday. He didn't say yes or no. Carol, being even more shameless, told him, 'If Mr. Perez doesn't say anything, that means you agree. I'll start work tomorrow.' Can you believe that?" Ann said while checking out a piece of clothing.
Chloe felt a bit guilty since she was the one who pointed Carol in this direction. "Brayden really didn't say anything?" she asked casually.
"Brayden's back at South Central Accounting Firm as a major shareholder. Carol said she'd start work tomorrow, and he said nothing. But yesterday afternoon, he had someone clean out a new office for her. Isn't that basically agreeing? Carol's relentless, even more than Ellie. But at least Carol's a second-gen rich kid and doesn't do things as dirty as Ellie," Ann said. "She also values her career more than Ellie."
"As long as Brayden agrees, just let it be. Isn't it good that she values her career?" Chloe advised, trying to calm Ann down since she started this mess.
"So you're saying I'm stuck?" Ann said helplessly. "I used to love working at South Central. First Ellie, now Carol. These women are driving me nuts."
Chloe thought, 'These two women are connected to Ann because of me. It's my fault Ann's upset.'
"This dress is cute. Think it looks good on me?" Ann asked, holding up a summer dress. People always said women shopped when they were unhappy.
"I'll buy it for you," Chloe said. Before Ann could react, she swiped her card.
"You're making it seem like I came just to make you pay. It's embarrassing."
Chloe smiled. "Well, I have to have money to do that."
Actually, Chloe felt guilty towards Ann, so she paid for it.
When she got home, Chloe told Donovan about it. He didn't comment, probably thinking Brayden's firm had little to do with him.
"From now on, you're not allowed to take over other people's orders!" Chloe pretended to be angry.
"You think I want to? I take over orders because my wife is in someone else's hands. The audit and finance departments complain about too much work every day. Do you think I enjoy it?" Donovan said while taking off his shirt.
But with Ann around, Chloe's mood improved a lot.
It seemed like Chloe needed to go out more.
Ever since Gordon and Clara arrived, Chloe had been in a bad mood.
Donovan also wanted them to go back to Dreamonia, but seeing Clara work tirelessly every day, he couldn't bear it. After all, they were his parents.
