Chapter 658 Aunt Chloe
Timothy was stoked to see the houses flying off the market. Despite all the drama with the Rebecca Residential Community, it ended on a high note. The buildings had just hit the fifth floor, and they were already sold out. He made bank.
Donovan made a special trip to Pearl Peak City because of the sales.
This time, Donovan had two main things to do in Pearl Peak City: chat with Timothy about the sales and bring Jake back. The kid was still crashing at Oscar's place.
Timothy invited Donovan and Charles out for dinner.
"I heard some big shot from Maple Valley is coming here to buy a house? Is that true?" Timothy asked Donovan.
"There's talk, but who knows if they'll actually buy. Could just be hype," Donovan replied.
"But it's pretty cool you can connect with someone like that," Timothy said.
Donovan just smiled, like it was no big deal. He hadn't even talked to this leader, but the guy still bought a house.
Even though it seemed small, others couldn't pull it off. Donovan managed to turn around the Rebecca Residential Community, something most people wouldn't even dream of. His own dad, Gordon, had a meltdown and left the country when faced with a similar situation.
Donovan brought Jake back home.
As they got home, Chloe had just walked in too.
Jake, looking a bit shy, asked, "Mr. Blake, can I call you Dad now?"
"You can, but from now on, I'm your only dad. You can't call anyone else dad or mom, not Cynthia or your aunt Janet. Got it?" Donovan asked seriously.
Jake nodded timidly, "I got it."
"And no matter what, you have to protect Francis. Understand?" Donovan added.
"Yes," Jake nodded again.
"I brought you here to keep Francis company."
"Yes."
Francis was super excited and grabbed Jake's hand, saying, "From now on, my toys are your toys. You can play with them."
Jake nodded solemnly.
Chloe wasn't too fond of the kid at first, but seeing Jake's sad face, she felt bad and thought she was being too harsh. She was about to go upstairs to find some of Francis's clothes for Jake when Jake called out, "Aunt Chloe!"
Chloe was a bit surprised. She had told Donovan in a fit of anger to have Jake call her that, but how did Jake know?
She looked at Donovan, "Did you tell him to call me that?"
This way of addressing made Chloe uncomfortable. Even though she had said it to Donovan before, she didn't really mean it.
Jake calling her that made it seem like he was Donovan's kid with another woman, which made Chloe feel awful. She frowned and liked Jake even less.
"Call her Mom," Donovan told Jake.
"But she doesn't look like a mom to me," Jake said again.
Chloe usually liked kids and never thought badly of them. But Jake seemed to be pushing her buttons, making her mad and causing issues between her and Donovan. Maybe he had picked up some bad habits from being with Cynthia for so long.
Chloe ignored it and went upstairs to sleep.
