Chapter 184 She was fascinated by the scent of alcohol on him
It's spring, and not dark at five in the afternoon. Thanks to Donovan, Chloe had another hour of "after-school tutoring." After work, Chloe followed Donovan's instructions. Go to his office for tutoring.
This time, Chloe wanted to pay attention to whether Donovan actually read her diary. She deliberately inserted a hair in today's entry. If he looked, the hair would fall out or move, and Chloe would notice. After handing over the diary, Chloe started her lesson.
Donovan was right, Charles was a very good teacher, explaining things clearly. But for Chloe, the course on financial cost management was quite easy. So, she often daydreamed, sitting up straight each time to see what Donovan was doing.
Donovan was busy with his own tasks or signing papers given by his secretary. Chloe's diary remained steadily on his desk. Until the nth time she straightened up and peeked at Donovan, Charles followed her gaze.
"He's just doing his work, not fooling around. Why do you keep watching him?"
Caught red-handed, Chloe felt extremely embarrassed. Donovan glanced in her direction, "Not paying attention in class will result in extra lessons." Chloe could only slowly refocus on the study material.
Donovan answered a call, saying, "Parker? Where? Whispering Pines? Okay." He stood up to leave. Hearing the surname "Parker," Chloe found it familiar but couldn't recall, considering how many entrepreneurs had that surname.
Because of his earlier remark about not paying attention leading to extra lessons, Chloe now kept her eyes fixed on the book, not daring to look at him at all. "Not staying?" he asked. Charles stopped teaching.
She raised her eyes only when Chloe confirmed that Donovan was talking to her. "Where are you going?" Chloe's eyes were cautious, wanting to ask but not daring to, yet they were very bright.
"Going out for socializing might be back late tonight."
"Then come back early." Chloe's long eyelashes curved slightly. It was the first time in so long that he was going out for socializing.
"All right, you go home first. I'll have the driver take you back." Donovan was checking his phone, preparing to make a call. "The class isn't over yet. There's still half an hour." Chloe said.
"Let's skip it for now." Charles pursed his lips, thinking, ‘Donovan is really stingy, afraid that tutoring Chloe alone might lead to trouble.’
"Your husband is very strict. You'll have to adapt," Charles said to Chloe. "Mind your own business!" Donovan clearly wasn't pleased with Charles.
"Fine." Chloe packed her bag glanced at the diary on the table, untouched. Just as she was about to leave, Chloe received a call from her mom.
"Chloe, are you busy tonight? If not, come home for a visit. I've made soup. Can you ask Donovan to come, too?" Amelia said to Chloe.
"Mom, he's going out for socializing might be back very late tonight. I'll go alone." Chloe happily told her mom.
Chloe was so happy because tonight she wouldn't have to "guard the empty house" alone. She had experienced living alone in such a big house before, feeling like falling into an abyss.
Donovan glanced at Chloe's cheerful expression. "Going back to your parent's house, and you're this happy?"
"Not really." Chloe could only lower her head, "Take care, and drink less."
But thinking back to the day of his birthday when he drank too much, the sexy scent emanating from him made Chloe feel hot all over, unable to resist.
"You can't drink and drive."
"Huh? Okay." Chloe was very disappointed. "What's with that expression? Do I have to drink myself to death for you to be happy?" Donovan frowned and asked her.
"No, not at all." Chloe just wanted him to have a little drink. She was fascinated by the scent of alcohol on him.
