Chapter 462 Jealousy

"Go on, speak," Donovan said.

Earlier, Donovan had been walking without an umbrella, allowing the light rain to sprinkle delicately on his hair, creating a certain ambiance. Chloe, feeling a chill herself, couldn't help but want to shield him under her umbrella.

Suddenly, Donovan noticed he could no longer feel the rain on his head. Thinking the rain had stopped, he looked up, only to see an umbrella hovering above him.

A slight ripple stirred in his heart; he thought it was Chloe.

But when he turned around, he found Jeffery holding the umbrella.

As Donovan turned back, he caught a glimpse of Chloe following Timothy, looking respectful and composed.

In the end, he realized he had overthought it.

David then detailed the situation over the phone.

"Mr. Blake, getting caught in the rain will catch a cold," Jeffery said after Donovan hung up the phone.

"Thank you," Donovan said, striding back into the crowd.

A moment later, Jeffery followed. He had noticed earlier that Chloe kept glancing at Donovan, who didn't have an umbrella. She probably felt bad seeing him get wet and wanted to shield him but she was too embarrassed to do so, So, Jeffery decided to step in instead.

Not long after, Donovan returned to the crowd and said to Timothy, "Something happened over in Maple Valley. I need to head back. Today's inspection ends here."

"Is it serious?" Timothy asked with concern.

"Oh, it's nothing. I've already inspected the Rebecca Residential Community site. Caitlyn will keep an eye on things here." With that, Donovan turned and left without looking back.

Chloe watched his back and thought, 'What happened in Maple Valley to make Donovan rush back so suddenly?'

Meanwhile, Donovan returned to Kenneth's house, picked up Francis, and headed to Maple Valley.

About two hours earlier, an incident had occurred in Maple Valley.

Paisley was carrying items Donovan's assistant had bought to deliver to Janet.

She knew which hospital Janet was in because she had caused a scene there before. As for Janet's home, she only needed to ask around to find out.

Clutching baby clothes and nutritional supplements, Paisley’s fury simmered beneath the surface, her fists clenched so tightly that a little more provocation would send her anger over the edge.

When she arrived at Janet's home, she was confronted with the sight of a child, a toddler about two years old.

Rumors had circulated that Janet might have had a child, but Paisley had never believed them—until now.

Janet was surprised to see Paisley and asked what she wanted.

Paisley threw the items on the ground, then said, "These are from Donovan."

Janet glanced at them—baby clothes and various nutritional supplements.

"He sent me these?" Janet asked in astonishment.

"How did you end up in Donovan's bed?" Paisley's chest heaved, and she stood there motionless, waiting for a reply.

Janet protected the child in her arms and said contentedly, "Mr. Blake was very gentle."

These words made Paisley grab a comb nearby and hurl it at Janet.

For years, she hadn't even touched Donovan, but Janet had given birth to his child.

How could Paisley not be furious?

Janet tilted her head to dodge the comb, but it hit the child's face, causing blood to gush out. The child immediately started crying.

Janet was extremely anxious. "Jake, are you okay?"

Paisley's rage intensified as she witnessed Janet protecting Jake.
