Chapter 469 Long-awaited Moment
Chloe had been attending meetings at the Stellar Corp recently but hadn't seen Donovan around. It was always Caitlyn and Charles who attended the meeting.
Every time Charles saw Chloe, he seemed like he had a lot to say but always held back.
One day, Chloe received a notification for the "Maple Valley International Financial Forum" scheduled for the end of the month at Maple Valley Azure Haven.
Maple Valley again.
Chloe decided to take her two students along to broaden their horizons, which would also benefit their ongoing research projects.
Isabel and Saoirse were overjoyed when they heard the news.
"Ms. Baker, I've never been to such a big city before. Plus, accommodations are included!" Isabel said excitedly, as she had always longed to visit Maple Valley.
Saoirse felt the same way.
In short, as long as they weren't stuck at school, they were happy to go out.
Chloe, however, seemed preoccupied.
She saw Donovan again in mid-November at a school ceremony.
He had become an "Honorary Professor" at Pearl Peak City University and gave a speech to the faculty and students.
It was probably because of the Rebecca Residential Community project.
The Rebecca Residential Community project had officially been approved, and soon, promotional signs and billboards featuring "Rebecca" would be everywhere. Thinking of this, Chloe felt a mix of emotions.
Rebecca had not come into this world in vain.
While Donovan was appointed as an honorary professor for "bringing significant economic development to Pearl Peak City," Kenneth was still a renowned professor, so Donovan's new title was higher than Chloe's.
Chloe barely recognized Donovan when she saw him. He was impeccably dressed, eloquent, and spoke like a distinguished scholar. He was quite different from how he carried himself at New East Group.
It seemed he had different approaches to speeches for different occasions.
The girls in the audience were excitedly discussing, "Mr. Blake is so handsome."
"Forget it, he already has kids."
Chloe thought, 'It seems he hasn't been caught and is doing even better. Now he is at Pearl Peak City University, fooling young girls into falling for him.'
After the meeting, Chloe tried to slip away through the crowd, but Donovan appeared out of nowhere and grabbed her arm.
"Take care of Francis for me," he said to Chloe.
"Do you have something to do?"
"Yes, I need to go with Timothy to sign an agreement with the local authorities," he explained.
"Do you need me to go?" Chloe asked naively, knowing it was about the Stellar Corp when she heard Timothy's name.
"You?" Donovan looked her up and down. "You're not qualified."
Chloe fell silent.
She recalled Pamela's recent warning about Donovan's ruthlessness, which made her a bit scared.
"Why ask me to take care of Francis then?" she asked.
Donovan chuckled. "Who else is more suitable than you?"
"But you have to bring Francis to my house. I'm very busy with writing papers and working on projects," she said.
"Alright." With that, Donovan turned to leave.
"Wait," Chloe suddenly said, tugging at Donovan's sleeve.
"What?" Donovan didn't pull away but let her hold onto his sleeve.
"Add me on WhatsApp," Chloe said urgently.
She thought that if she was Donovan's friend of WhatsApp, she could quickly inform him if Pamela took any action. He was smart and would surely come up with a good plan.
She didn't want Pamela to track her actions, but she couldn't help wanting to see Francis.
"You've been waiting for this moment, haven't you?" Donovan looked at Chloe as if he knew exactly what she was thinking.
"Not really, it's just more convenient for contact," Chloe responded.
"I'll bring Francis to you this afternoon. Also, I'll accept the friend request." With that, Donovan left.
Then, he quickly accepted her friend request.
Since Pamela seemed to know her every move anyway, Chloe decided not to be afraid of Pamela anymore.
